Adrian @ssgmeader , I went through and dug out a ton of shorts (under 3") , pen blanks, and longs (under 12"). I have some people who would love some cigar punches… would you rather just trade for the Amboyna punch, or are you up for trading that one and two or three more to be made from some Briar burl that I will send you. Here are some pics of what I dug up… let me know which pieces look good to you and how many punches you're up for making/sending. At a minimum, I'm sending you all of the shorts no matter how many punches we do.

Shorts: amboyna, amboyna, stabilized amboyna, HRB, (primo) cocobolo, cocobolo, Amazon Rosewood burl, narra, rosewood?, purpleheart, curly maple, walnut, Texas ebony, ??? burl, stabilized ??? burl, DIW, DIW, DIW (cut out of the pic).

Pen blanks: coco, coco, Jim Beam barrel blank, walnut, walnut burl, manzanita burl, manzanita burl, BEM, ???, ??? burl, FBE burl, maple burl, maple, gummy cherry, redwood burl, bocote, ??? BEB, Ambrosia maple IMG_0011.webp
Longs: curly white oak, curly white oak, walnut, walnut, (primo) amboyna burl, redwood burl, gummy cherry, spalted maple, ??? burl, duckwood (most likely some kind of maple from Duck's magical forest), spalted maple.

Lots of great stuff in there!

Wow that's a lot to look at lol- I'll gladly do a trade for a few more punches. If we remove the plain walnut/ bocote/cocobolo, and spalted maple would you but toss in a briar short would you consider that fair?

NICE!!! I can't wait! Those are really quite beautiful!

How did you like turning that briar?

Good, the kit was more a PIA than anything for some reasons..small parts that have to be just right. Shoot me you address I threw the package out with the return on it.

I got the punches in the mail today, and WOW! They are stunning! How high did you sand that briar to achieve such a finish? I was planning on giving two of these as gifts... not sure I can now that I've seen them in person!

I do up to 600 on the wood itself using DNA to clean between grits, then do a CA finish (I don't count the coats I just go until I get the diameter on my calipers I want. (On average I'd have to say I I have about 8-10 coats though) usually I do a slow turn coat or 2 of Gorilla CA (I get from Lowes) then lately I'll switch to high speed coats of thin CA (Stickfast from Woodcraft) and I'll knock it back every now and then with 600 to ensure no ripples . Once I have the diameter I like I switch to Micro Mesh go all the way through to 12,000 then I use Huts plastic polish for the final. I just got a beal system too so I'm going to start experimenting with that soon. I do not use accelerator I'm just never that much in a rush and I can wait a minute or 2 to let it cure never had an issue with off gassing that way, I'll go drill a blank for the next pen or whatever. Thanks for the praise glad you like them.,
