Bangle on Rachelle's wrist is Blue Mahoe

Clock on the left is Blue Mahoe

For bangles, clocks, pens I like the contrast of heartwood and sapwood.
I can cut these boards to fit in a large flat rate box. But I have similar coloring in smaller boards. Just have not got around to taking pictures.
Dave

Dave,'
I would agree to a trade of my cocobolo for some of your blue mahoe and some other Hawaian wood ( like koa ) in a medium size flate rate box ( $11.35 )
There is a box that is about 12 X 13 X 3 " . I don't have enough cocobolo to fill the large flst rate box. What do you think ?
Joe
What other goodies do you have to fill a large flat rate box? Maybe some of Big Cougar's secret "denim pine"?

David,
I would have some Big Leaf Maple and some 5/8 " thick walnut.
Joe
Sorry to have left you hanging Joe. I forgot all about this thread due to a major hassle with taxes. We can do a medium rate box trade if you are still interested.
Dave

David,
OK , what goes in the boxes ?
Joe

David,
I think I will pass on the trade for blue mahoe . I was really more interested in a mixture of other exotics trade for my cocobolo. Thanks.

I have some osage, FBE. Mesquite and other stuff. Is the cocobolo you have on the wild or the mild side? I've seen it both ways and in between, and I prefer my wood on the wild side. :pleasantry:

Kevin,
The wood is old and dry ......dark on the surface from light exposure .....but if I remember the stuff is nicely figured ...but no knots .....maybe one small crack in one piece.

What are the dimensions? Also, you'll need to plane or sand it if you want to trade it. I doubt anyone will want to trade if they can't see what it will actually looks like. :i_dunno:

Hold it if he is allergic to it that might not be such a good Idea. I think there are pics earlier in thread.

Joe, can you get some better pics? Also, on the dark pieces is there a way you can sand or plane them without having an allergic reaction? I realize working with it on a prolonged basis wouldn't be good but if you think you can run sand a small portion or something with a respirator and upwind in a bubble suit . . . :sarcastic:

If not I understand, but that's something I'd rather you decide and not me or anyone else. You know your situation the best.

I took some pictures of the Cocobolo and posted them on page 1 of the thread. No ........No........I can pick up the pieces , that is about all . No sanding or planing , etc. Not worth the risk of another allergic reaction !!! I worked with the wood for many years , then one day I guess my body said enough . Worse than poison ivy . My Doc said if you breathe any of that dust into your lungs , you could have very serious problems . All this happened about 3 years ago . I just found the three pieces recently in my shop. By the way, I don't seem to have any problems with other wood , including the rosewoods ....just Cocobolo with the sweet oil smell .

Whoa that's bad. No don't risk it then. I'll take a gamble if you want to trade. If the wood isn't all that pretty I won't neg you or say anything about it because this is mitigating circumstances I agree. Would you like some osage and mesquite then? I will post some pics if so.

Joe,

I just read the entire thread to make sure I'm not cutting in here, but I believe I have. Mike deferred to David because he was tied up with some things, but it's back to him now before we can trade.

Mike if you are interested in these boards please trade for them. I am certainly not hurting for wood and I do have cocobolo (I'm just a wood junkie so I cannot help myself) so it's not like I "need" this wood.

:wacko1:

Here a good mix Joe. The skeet has no checks or ring shake they are all solid. So premium stuff. All of it is even the osage - rings are very tight. I actually got all this in a MFRB hope I can do it again. :shok:

[attachment=5088]

Same boards flipped and rotated. . .

[attachment=5089]

If you want 'em let me know I'll get them on the next stage out of Dodge.

I just printed off your label Joe, so while you will get a email from the USPS shortly, the stage has already pulled out of Dodge for today. It'll go on tomorrow's though. Hey don't complain about the stage coach just ask Jimmy a stage is fast compared to how I send his wood.
