Just got this picture from my friend David Hurd (long time luthier living in Hilo). The spalted Koa back on his uke reminded me of your post.
If you run out of resources, I'd try contacting some of the well know, active Big Island luthiers. They always seem to be first in line when it comes to the best stock.

Try the UkuleleUnderground luthiers subforum...probably the largest on the web.

When are you going to need some if you can wait until late summer I got 100 + bf fling in from a friend who is there now I got to do a shotgun stoch for him the Koa will be 10/4 an like in the Picture he allready bought it
