**ENDED** Different kind of trade

That chunk came in today and WOW!!!!!!!!!! The pictures DO NOT do this stuff justice! I have to turn some dry spalted maple bowls for a silent auction benefit supper for a neighbor then I will jump all over turning a bowl out of this chunk of apple wood. :good2::good2::yipee::yipee::yipee::yipee::yipee:
Hey thanks for the extras too!!!!!!! That little chunk of maple burl is screaming at me to make a bottle stopper out of it! :scare3: I guess I will have to break down and buy the mandrel and some kits. Dad gum it here comes another hobby and I don't have time for the ones I have now. :sofa::sarcastic:

Suggestion for bottles topper turning: Buy a bolt with the same size threads, cut the head off the bolt and put it in your drill chuck on the lathe. .... instant mandrel.

You just have to drill and tap the wood at that point.... I drill and tap the wood, then put a thin CA on the threads and let it dry..... makes the threads more durable.... Just a suggestion if you were going the mandrel route.... ya save most of your $$ this way....
