**ENDED** Different kind of trade

If it is a fruit wood I would seal every face. I have heard that it is hard to dry. If you want to send me your pay pal info I should have time in June to rough it in snap a couple pictures then seal it up to dry till I can finish it. :cowboy:

Oh make it a medium flat rate if you have a chunk big enough for an 8 to 11" bowl. I only have a 12" swing on my lathe.

I should be able to make that happen. And I will make sure all surfaces are sealed. I'll pm you my pp.

I have some apple like that and when I used some for pens I stabilized it first with cactus juice. I like the contrasting color. @norman vandyke I would like a SFRB if you have enough. Thanks

Sorry, I only needed one person to trade with for test run. I will probably offer some up for sale in the future though. I will make sure you're first in line if you're interested.

Now that I think about it, it would be nice to see what a pen would look like with this wood and I do have those original cuttings I made. I think I could let you have enough to fill a sfrb. Please do post pics of the finished product though.

Here are pictures of the bowl blanks for @Wilson's Woodworking. Let me know which one you prefer and its final dimensions. All are at least 8"Wx12"Lx4"T. I really tried to get 5"thick out of these. It just wouldn't happen. 20150519_083557.webp 20150519_083619.webp 20150519_083630.webp 20150519_083647.webp

Just pick the one with the least checking in it and trim as much of the cracking off as possible before sealing. They all look really cool! I think the one on the left but without seeing it in person it is hard to tell.

@ironman123 I have these blanks ready. Each are 3/4"+ square and 12"+ long(cutting in half for shipping). Last photos are of another I'll be cutting into 4 more blanks(there will be 12 total). Let me know if that works and if you're still interested but this will be the last test run. :-) 20150519_101005.webp 20150519_101013.webp 20150519_101020.webp 20150519_101029.webp 20150519_101049.webp 20150519_101057.webp 20150519_101101.webp 20150519_101105.webp

Hey thanks for the extras too!!!!!!! That little chunk of maple burl is screaming at me to make a bottle stopper out of it! :scare3: I guess I will have to break down and buy the mandrel and some kits. Dad gum it here comes another hobby and I don't have time for the ones I have now. :sofa::sarcastic:

I have LOTS of big, old apple trees that grew wild. I'm trying to sell it and fun uses for em. I have some of the bigger ones cut down. About 10" to 20" diameter and 5' to 8' long. I think I'm gona cut them into slabs image.webp image.webp

I love the color on those! Gonna make me jealous. Make sure you seal the ends or they week crack like crazy. At the very least paint them with latex paint.
