**ENDED** eastern redbud blanks

Both sets 1 and 2 are a little over 5.5 inches square buy 11 inches long. Set 1 I ran over the jointer to show the fresh cut color. Set 2 was covered with anchorseal. All the redbud I have cut has a tendency to move like crazy and it likes to split and check. I'm letting this be known upfront. These pieces have been drying for nearly a year. I recoated set 1 with anchorseal after I took the pictures.

I'm asking 25 each plus LFRB for set 1 and 20 each plus LFRB for set two. I can get two blanks in one LFRB.

Do you happen to know the %moisture in these blanks.:dunno::dunno: They look very nice

The moisture meter is showing 13 - 15%

John I want to commend you on your honesty. I have quite a bit of redbud too, and I was going to list it for sale also but just could not bring myself to do it. I have never seen any species of wood that checked as bad as this. I was just too afraid to sell any.

I'm glad you gave the caveat like you did and I commend you for it. Nothing wrong with selling it with full disclosure as you have.

I have cut quite a few pen blanks w/ Redbud and I soak them in DNA for a couple of days and it really helps w/ the checking, or in a pen blanks case, breaking in half.

Hey Tom! I tried Pentacryl for stabilization, but it never dried. Even after a couple hours in a 200F oven... I am sure it would help prevent checks and cracks, but since it doesn't dry quickly it didn't work for my application. I did apply it by total immersion in a vacuum. I am experimenting with the DNA trick and that seems to help wet wood stay more crack free while slowly drying.

Guys

I've used quite a bit of Pentacryl. In my case it did a very nice job on 1st turned green material. However I see no advantage over DNA which I can obtain at a much lower cost. DNA has done a fantastic job for me when turning green wood.

I received 4 gorgeous Redbud blanks today . Again these blanks are as beautiful as the last two. Man the pics don't reflect just how gorgeous they really are. and virtually no checking or cracking at all. Thank you very much my friend. :thewave::thewave:
