@barry richardson expressed an interest in trading a little elm burl for some kind of southwest wood. I got a little today, and here's a piece for consideration. It's close to an 8" cube at max measurements, but there's a sloped natural edge. I see a few eyes peeking through the bottom, so it's about as close as I can get to solid burl in this size.

Should yield a decent sized hollowform.

Nice wood. You have some cute little feet there Doc but I know what kind of socks you have stuffed in those boots. That's what makes me jealous.

Clogs and designer jeans?!?

I wear clogs all year. The jeans aren't designer, but they are made in USA... Do you know how hard it is to find jeans made in the US? Plus, they match my blouse...:sarcastic:

Warm feet. A leprechaun's second favorite colors. A happy, sleeping puppy. The world is a paradise.

Thanks! Looks great! My wood source won't be open till Monday. I will search for a suitable trade for you then.

@DKMD I braved the 70 degree sunny weather and went to the wood lot today, here are a couple pieces for you to consider Doc; The one with bark is African Sumac, about 10x10x8. The other 2 are Carob, 10x10x6 and 10x10x4.5. I got some Red Gum Eucalyptus too, but I found it had too many checks when I cut into it .... The carob pieces are similar in looks, I just threw the smaller one in the picture to create the illusion of more choices:sarcastic: The Sumac has a little burl action near the bark, also a few cracks around the burls, it would be more of a "character piece" Let me know if like any of these... sorry about the washed out picture, the end-grain shot shows pretty true color, although on both of these wood the color changes significantly for the better over time...

The carob would be awesome... Either one is fine with me. I loved the sumac you sent before, but since I've never turned carob, I'd rather have a go at one of them. We need to swap mailing addresses again, so I'll send you a PM.

You need me to send you some flip flops and sunscreen for your treacherous trips into the wood lot?

Off topic Doc, but are those clogs Danskos?

If you come across any live edges or other burl pieces that would be good to cast in resin, let me know and i'll send you a cast piece of whatever you send me

Matt, I've got a decent sized box full of burl scrap that I've been saving for while... I'm happy to send you a box for a little trade. PM me a mailing address, and I'll try to throw something together for you.

Aw man, I got all excited when I saw this pop up, thought you had more to trade. BTW, do you clog? better watch this...
