I have about 83+/- labelled veneer samples that I had forgotten about until the recent adventure in trying to identify a piece of sycamore burl. I got these from my father's-in-law estate after he passed on about 6 years ago. Thirty five of the samples are from a kit from "The Woodworkers' Store" and are 3"x5" with the common name printed on them. The remainging veneer samples are from "Albert Constantine and Son, Inc.". They have printed labels affixed to the veneer which contain the common name as well as the genus and species. Forty of these samples are 4"x9" and eight are about 4"x4". I suspect the other part got used in a project along the way. I have not taken the time to make a list but they include both foreign and domestic woods.

I was thinking there might be someone on this forum who would like to have them. I am not sure if I need anything in return, but I would like to see them go to someone who would appreciate them and perhaps find a use for them.

Anyone interested?

And you'll get something in return whether you want it or not. :pleasantry:

I can definitely use them if you will allow me to have them. Thank you!

Kevin, They are yours. I have your address and will ship them out on Monday. Like I said, I don't need anything, but if you want to send me a surprise, I won't send it back!

I haven't sent your box yet because I never asked you what kind of woodworking you like most. Just let me know if you turn or not and I'll know what to send.

Thanks for the samples they will come in real handy trying to ID all these unknown species I have. Incidentally I'm about to post a thread on the Sycamore I mentioned in your thread.

Kevin,

I am pretty much a generalist and make whatever someone needs or whatever strikes my fancy. I have been doing a fair amount of bowl turning lately, from a variety of woods. I have made a bunch of bowls out of red cedar lately. The shop has smelled good and the bowls are beautiful. Red cedar will yellow if you put a varnish on it, but I found that if I put a coat or two of water based sanding sealer followed by a couple of layers of shellac and then some polyurethane, the original color is preserved quite well.

But I digress. Thanks
