@polyted
Paul, I have these for $15 if you want to turn some. Or I have a 10x12x2 piece of white cedar that I'll throw in with the walnut. I'm not feeling good today so I just walked out but not feeling like digging around or cutting anything up.

Eric, Would these pieces be for spindle turning it faceplate? It's hard to see the dimensions from this picture. I would like to turn some bowls so will be mounting on faceplate.

The maple are like 2 1/4 sq x 12. I have some 6x6x2 oak bowl blanks as well. I'll just have to take a pic later.

I'm looking for a few cheap wood blocks for turning bowls. Since these would be for learning I would defer to an expert the more exotic cuts. Most of the wood I've seen for sale here is rather too beautiful to destroy for someone at my level :)
Folks, many thanks to everyone, I got with a local who had an oak tree felled and didn't want to pay for removal, so I have plenty of stuff to salvage from her.
