Bill @Bill12035 asked for a LFRGB of wormy chestnut and curly cherry. Thankfully for Bill, @Eric Rorabaugh overlooked a stash of cherry last week that I found this morning. This stuff is amazing and I found 28 boards of it. Eric needs to step up his game. He fleeced me good last week but it could have been a lot worse.

Bill, if this is okay with you, send me a PM to complete the deal and it'll be shipped tomorrow. Other boxes of this cherry will be offered soon.

Ouch that hurt! Yea I missed that but the maple made up for it. I like to ha e a couple boards of that as well.
 
OMG! I want just 1 pc of that cherry pretty please! Just enough to make a spoon with... some ofvthat figure might even be micro enough to make a knife handle...

I didn't see any curl but lots of flame and Quilt in that cherry. Maybe a perspective. If you have any shorts or cut-offs that would make a good reference sample for my collection, let me know. Samples finish at 3" x 6" x 1/2"

Probably more accurate to call it quilted or flame but some of the boards show the classic rope curl we all know and love. There were definitely two different trees in this stash. I'll be cutting up several of the boards for orders I took yesterday and will save you a sample from one of the cutoffs.

That's appreciated, but there are still shipping rates.... Or are you going to hold it ransom and make me drive down. Shipping is far cheaper than gas, but still would like to make it down some time.

Mark, I'll be shipping a surprise gift to you in the same box that will set your old heart a fluttering. Just thought about it last night. Be sure to take a baby aspirin before opening the box.

Well, I missed the aspirin... Your shipment arrived Saturday, but I was volunteering at the church. After a 14hr day, went home and crashed. Wife was out of town for the weekend. So, didn't think about mail until this morning. I opened the mail box and saw the package and thought, Yeah, honey from Rocky. Got in the house and set it on the kitchen table and said, Larry?...should be a little box?? The LFRB box was blown open on two corners opposite sides, cross corners. I opened a Christmas surprise with samples perfectly filling the box, topped with a fresh figured cherry sample. Wow oh wow.!.!. The box was completely full, nothing missing as tight as it was packed. I began swimming into the layers seeing many species I lack in my wood sample collection. I quickly noticed book lice, or critters that look like so. I closed it back up and put it in the basement freezer for now until I have time to fire up the fumigator.

So, I want to thank You very much. In the past our deal was to reimburse your shipping. Your surprise is worth far more than that. Do you have a price tag in mind? Secondly, where were you storing them? You might need to fumigate on your end as a precaution.

Thank you Larry, when all is done I will post pictures of the surprise in the wood ID forum.

Thanks for letting me know. They were stored in the garage so there could be some bugs. I'll take a look at the rest of them. Where the four publications in the box at the bottom? Those were the research publications from the man who did the collection. I have at least three more boxes of his samples that same size to send you. I'll check them for bugs before I send them.

I just went through the box of remaining samples and didn't see any bugs. I packed up another box like the first one and will mail it today. If you insist, just reimburse me for the postage which is $8 per box. I'm glad to find a good home for this ancient collection. I got it in trade for some lumber about 20 years ago and its only been sitting in the garage ever since. As you know, I tried to offer it to Penn State two years ago and they seemed very interested until they acquired a very large collection from someone else. Then they never came back to me. So you get them all. Congratulations!!!
