I'm away from home for a few days, Dave, but may have some. If someone hasn't filled your need by Wednesday I'll post som pics of what I have. All I'd want in return is for you to kic @Kevin out of his place in line for CB.:sofa:
 
I do have one more piece of very black gabon ebony. A hair under 1.5x1.5... and right at 12" long. It is wax covered all over, so I need to get it on a sander to get you some pictures. I'll do so tomorrow morning, unless Greg comes up with something that fits your needs between now and then.
 
In case you're in a real bind, I was just at Rockler today. They had a bundle of ebony pieces individually priced. I couldn't believe the piece I had in my hand that was about 1 1/2 wide, 1/2 thick and maybe 3 feet long was $88!!! The sticker said $150/bdft.:shok::scare3:

I guess I didn't realize it was that pricey.
 
Ok here is what I have the 12" piece is not perfectly square it it measures 1 3/8 by 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 (measurements on all 4 sides) it is 12 long. The other piece in the pix is 8" long.

I could sell em to you or I could take some more of the chittum burl. :treehugger: As payment your call.

Dave I have some ABW aka "the original ebony" that's jet black. If you get this far and need jet black ebony I do have plenty.

Greg, it is hard for me to tell based on those pics, but it seems like there is some brown in those pieces. I'm really looking for almost pure black.

Don't kick me out of my CB place but I may have misspoke. I just reread your need for some reason I thought you wanted 3/4" thick stuff. I guess someone else is asking for it in another thread. I think I may still have some that thick I'll look when I get back from town.
 
Steve, after I realized you needed 1.5 square I still thought I could help. I remembered a ABW blank I had that looked very black until I jointed it to see just how black it was, but learned to my pleasant surprise it is ziricote! So that won't help you and I don't want to sell it anyway. . . . .

I also have a big slab I got from Steve Smith but it isn't jet black either. pretty balck but it does have brownish streaks in it. But it's quite a bit blacker than anything shown thus far. If I were you I'd wait and see what Henry comes up with - if all else fails I'll show you my ABW but have you asked @Steve Smith?
 
Here are a few pictures of the piece of gabon ebony... in the post that follows this one are pics of a slightly longer piece of ABW. If the ABW meets your needs, it will be cheaper (I have plenty of ABW stock and the ebony is my last stick and is getting harder to find). Both will finish extremely black.
