This thread is a continuation of another thread where Kevin mentioned something about MP for FBE. The FBE I need is 8/4 x 10-12" x 24" long. Sorry about the pictures. I was in a rush to take them before Suzy woke up and caught me taking pictures of Monkey Butt on her dining room table.

Oh yah you have a deal - I'll mill you some nice stuff today and post pics. But the 10 - 12" is gonna be pushing it because the largest logs I have left are 11" can you take 8 - 10" stuff? If not we may have to wait until I harvest another load or see if I find sonthing in my stash and see what's left . . .

2 pieces 10.5" x 10.5"?

I think I can do that. You don't want them 12/4? I can send the 8/4 plus some 4/4 filler if you don't want to resaw it.

What ever is easiest for you

That stuff looks great. I have no idea what it costs, could you give me an idea of what a 8/4sq x 18" would be and if you have a piece? I want to make a handle for my hollowing tool I got in trade from Dema here on WB. Is it strong enough to be a hollowing tool handle?

Yes it would be strong enough.
8.00 for a piece of 8/4 square x 18". I need to be sure I have some at that length. It would have to be shipped in a USPS game box which costs about 16.00 so the total would be 24.00. Might consider a few more items just to fill the box. I have some Koa. Just a thought.

I will take the 3 spindles and block 1 Will that for in an LFRB Game board? If you need to cut the block down to fit you can by 4" pieces. Is this wood dry?

The EMC of the spindles is 12% and of the thicker blocks it is 17%.
I can cut the block into 4 pieces that are 3 +/-" x 3" x 12" I can fit everything into a Game board or 3 pieces that are 3" x 4" x 12" if the spindles are cut to 16" in length
Total price-75.00 including shipping.

I will take the second option. 16" spindles and the block cut into 4x3x12 pieces. If you could cut them against the grain I would appreciate it, meaning the 12" side should be end grain.

I can do that. Thanks for the payment

I received my monkey blanks today and all I can say is - David I will want more of these. They are super beautiful. The figure is out of this world. Pictures suck when it comes to really seeing the beauty in the wood and they are still in the rough. I can't imagine what they'll look like once I turn them.

Thank you!!!

:thanx2:

I have some FBE to show you and trying to get some pics taken now . . . . .

I love working with Monkey Pod it is so easy to work and it is very stable. We have giant slabs of it and it does not move and cracking is minimal. Usually only get one crack in a big slab that is an easy Dutchman repair. The color and figure is :good2: too. I bet you could move a bunch of that David. I don't know if you have the ones with alligator skin like bark but it has been my experience that they are the ones with the best figure and color. It seems we have three distinct different types of the tree here. :treehugger:
Thanks for the tip. I have noticed that the sapwood of most of the MP out here has a yellow cast. I was wondering if you could throw a few pictures of MP with the alligator skin like bark. I do find that the dust from MP is an irritant. I need to keep a fan on the lathe to blow the dust away.

Dave,
Box made it today. This MP is awesome. I cant wait to get a handle turned from it. Thanks for the "filler" too. This box is full of firsts for me.

Dave I forgot to ask, am I supposed to guess what the extras are? I don't have a clue.

Amazon rosewood, Koa? Post a picture, I forgot what I sent

Dave,

See if any of these work for you. If not what you're looking for I'll have some more next week.

The ones on the bottom, are the ones on the top, in order, just showing the reverse sides. The width measurements are the "workable" measurements that do not count the wane. IOW the narrowest workable widths are recorded. A couple of the pices have some shallow punk but if you want to look at those pieces I'll show close-ups of the punk.

Yea I rarely make the "filler'' either :lolol:

Mark I meant Mark :dash2::dash2:

I never mark my filler either, but I expect everyone else to do so. :mocking:

Oh, and for the record, I don't make any of it either.
