This is a medium flat rate box full of a number of different woods, there is Ironwood-Cedar-Sinker Pine-Apple-Yew-and God only knows what else, I'm looking for a NEW turner that is on a limited buget and does not have a lot money to spend on wood, lets limit this to folks who have been turning for only 3-4 months and if you have recieved one of the other boxes I have given away PLEASE don't ask for this, let someone else have it!

I'll pay the postage also, no trade required! The only condition is that you have to promise to have fun !!!!! And you have to post pictures of your work.

Just giving a little something back

Looks like I may be excluding some folks and I don't want to do that so I'll change this post a little, if you have been turning for less that a year, jump in here and claim this box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You giving away my sinker pine?

Just 1 little piece, it's really cool wood and I wanted to pass some around, I cut it too small for what I do and I'm sure someone can make something cool out of it, I dont want to waste it and it sure as heck was not going in the kindling box!!!!!!

Don't know yet, a friend of mine in Tenn is going to make a trumpet call from a piece and he's not sure if the resin taste of pine can be stopped, he said any mouth call made of pine leaves that taste no matter what you do to it, and no matter how many coats of lacquer or CA is used, so they don't make calls of pine, but with this "Sinker" having been on the bottom of the river for over 100 years, it might not do that, we'll see!

RE: "New woodturner wanted"

I noticed the other day that now that it's dry it really doesn't have much scent... didn't taste it though!

Ive got about 3 weeks under my belt! Do I qualify. I was licking my chops looking at that selection. I only make pens right now but I would be happy to make you one out of a couple of those! Plus I really want to start to make small tops to those big amish type tops.

Hey shade.
I finally got a chance to get some of that wood turned. I made a pen out of the iron wood and cracked it a bit but was able to save the prettiest knot and attach some nice maple to the ends. I also turned two blanks into pretty cool tops.
