I was sorting through some of my pen blanks the other day and realized that my last couple rounds of pens I made as gifts hit my stash of burls pretty hard, so I'm looking to replenish.

Looking to do some trades of finished pens for some real nice burls in pen blank size. I can also cut larger pieces down to size. Could also use some Desert Ironwood (both burl and non-burl). Cast Cholla wouldn't be turned away either.

I have some finished pens pictured here that you can choose from. I will also be adding some more pics to that thread/post of some pens I've recently finished or am just finishing up. I could also make you a pen from one of your blanks, if that's what you'd like.

I've got a decent to good supply of the following burls, so I don't necessarily need any of these right now, unless you've got some exceptionally great pieces of them: Cherry Burl, Maple Burl, Walnut Burl, Thuya Burl, Amboyna Burl, Buckeye Burl.
 
Matt- Most of what I've got is stuff you have but if you get over to my side of the state feel free to stop on in and take a look at the pile of burls I've got.

Sounds good. Thanks! I do still intend to head your way sometime and had hoped to this summer, but when that will happen, I don't know as we're now dealing with some health stuff with my wife right now. She's not in shape to travel that far and I can't leave her home by herself for more than a few hours right now. She's still on board with me getting some cherry burl from you to incorporate into the bedroom furniture project I'm hoping to start next year.

Sure. And I know you've got nice stuff. Last night I finished up a pen for @El Guapo from a piece he got from you that he asked me to make into a pen for him. Turned out real nice!
 
Here are a few blanks I rounded up quick. The first three are DIW burl I got here a while back. The fourth I'm really not sure what kind of burl that one is. The bottom piece is stabilized FBEB. If any of these catch your interest or if you want more Box elder burl I can get you the sizes and more pics. I really like them bolt action pens. If you would have any interest I would trade you whatever pieces you want to make a fair deal

Derek - I really them all. I'm assuming that these are all call blank size - at least 1 1/2" square? If so, then I can get 4 pens out of each call blank, which is great.

Since you're wanting a bolt action, one definitely wouldn't be a fair trade for those blanks, IMO. Would you be interested in a couple bolt actions or a bolt action and another pen in exchange for those blanks?
 
Yep the top 4 are 1-1/2 sq. the FBE burl is 1-7/8 x 2-1/4 x 6-1/2 at shortest
Ya if you think 2 pens is fair that's fine with me. I've been starting to get a few custom pens lately and I think it's turning into an addiction haha. I really like seeing others craftsmanship. I really like the FBE bolt action and the spalted maple dyed green fountain pen If those two would work for you I'd be game for the trade. If I need to throw more in I can do that as well

Glad I can help build that collection of custom pens! Even though I turn pens, I also always enjoy getting one from another pen maker from time to time too. I love having a collection of others' works. Even though I don't hunt, I'd love to start a collection of calls sometime - you call makers produce some seriously sweet calls.
 
Any interest in elm burl? Also, I've got some killer spalted sweet gum that would be great for single barrel pens. I've got a few sticks of Chechen burl somewhere plus dozens of other flavors.

What would it take to get that chittum burl Sierra sent to Oklahoma?

Nice pick of a pen - would be happy to send it to Oklahoma. The things you listed sound good - and I'm sure there's some other good stuff in those dozens of flavors. Put together a package of various stuffs at what you think is a fair value for it, post a pic, and we'll get this one on it's way to OK!
 
Here's the first layer in a small flat rate box... Couple of figured silver maple, a few elm burl, spalted sweetgum shorts, and a little DIW burl.

@DKMD - looks good, especially that elm burl. While the maple looks great, I've got a ton of maple of all kinds on hand, would you be able to swap out the maple with something else? What - just surprise me. I'll send you a PM later when I'm not typing on a phone and we can exchange addresses. Thanks!

Pup looks like she's got lots of experience in trying to use your good burls as chew toys!
