Mr @Jerry B and I have been talking about trading some blanks for a pen. Here are the few I have on hand to wet your whistle. The lilac are 3/4" square by about 3-1/2"-4-1/2". The ROB(thanks @ripjack13 ) is minimum 15/16" square by 4-15/16" up to 8-1/2" in length. And if course I'll post some pics of stabilized as soon as they get in, unless this does it for you. Lol! There is a small crack going the length of the longest lilac blank but it looks to be turntable. 20150810_193449-1.webp 20150810_193511-1.webp 20150810_193532-1.webp 20150810_193549-1.webp sorry about the picture quality. Rather bright today.

those look real nice :good2:
if the Olive isn't stabilized, I'd prefer to wait a bit for some of them, will save me a process and I can use as soon as I get them ;-)

sorted thru and chose a nice blank you sent previously, have it glued up, will have a finished pen tomorrow for you to preview & approve :good2:

That's some fast work! I figured you'd want stabilized blanks. Can't wait to have one if those pens though. That one looks just classy as Katherine Hepburn!

Norman expressed an interest in my Jr George, Antique Brass w/ his Russian Olive Burl, and as a Fountain pen
since I only buy this kit as either a Rollerball, or a Hybrid Rollerball-Fountain configuration, he will also get the Rollerball assembly for everyday writing.
It takes all of 30 seconds to switch from Rollerball to Fountain and back to Rollerball again, has become one of my customer's favorite pens.

Here's what I created this morning :

Here's what I have for you to choose from for stabilized blanks that I've cleaned up so far. I tried to get around 5" minimum. Some are over some, just a hair under. All are at least 3/4" square. I know you like 7/8" but I only have 3/4" stabilized. If you like, I can trade out three of these for the three lilac burl blanks I pictured previously. They're not stabilized but they truly don't need it. Lol. @Jerry B 1439588481145-243782205.webp

3/4 is fine with me and the lengths are OK as well, that's pretty much the largest needed for all pen kits
and that Olive Burl is absolutely gorgeous, I especially like the dark one 3rd from right, very interesting grain :good2:
I think we're good, pack up a box and we'll call the trade completed :haggle:
Thank You

Norm, it's a good thing I'm getting some of that ROB I got from you stabilized sometime soon - because every time I see you post pics of some, and especially seeing the pen Jerry made for you, makes me even more eager to get some of this on some pens!

I'll pack it up! Well have it out to you Monday with a couple little surprises. :hi:

can't wait , already have plans for about 1/2 of it :saw:

and Matt, you really need to try this stuff, pictures don't do it justice, it makes amazing pens & such
currently working on a segmented pen with the ROB & DIW mixed with Chechen Burl & Red Mallee Burl
have had 5 customers change their order from their initial woods, to Norman's Olive Burl :good2:

Yes, I cannot wait to try this stuff out! At least now I've got approval from the "finance department" to send some wood out for stabilization! (It helps that as soon as she saw the ROB, she immediate requested a FP from it!)

That sounds like it'll be a real nice segmented pen when you're done - will be looking forward to seeing it!

@Jerry B Got my pen today. I don't think a camera will ever be able to capture the beauty of this work of art. Looks fantastic! Now I just need to get some ink...or make some! I read somewhere that I can make ink from walnut husks.

so happy you're pleased with the pen :good2: , and I included a pre-filled ink cartridge, should last you until you get your own ink
besides, you've got a lot of reading to do :sarcastic:
Personally, I get my inks from Amazon, I use Noodlers Bulletproof Black, is great for documents as the ink can't be removed or modified
but, good luck making your own from Walnut husks :sarcastic:

I think I'll try both. Lol! Probably buy at first though. Really don't trust myself with making ink as of yet.

Got my box o' wood this morning, love the fact if you like what's in the pictures, then you'll really love the actual pieces
the pictures don't do these any justice, they're gorgeous! and the 2 dark ones are even more amazing :good2:
Thanks for the 2 lilacs also Norman, have been wanting to turn some and see what the grain looks like.
Very happy on my end with this trade, and will put those gorgeous blanks to good use :saw:

Feel free to share a couple pics of that lilac turned. I'd really like to see it. I might be getting some more soon. My brother knows someone who wants their lilacs cut down. Planning on taking roots and all.
