Ryan, trimmed them and stuffed it as full as I could get it. A variety of thickness but mostly thick. I hope you enjoy it, I have not built anything with it but I am looking forward to it. I tried to cut at the pith-that is where the black is but it is also where the cracks are. You will see what I mean, Thanks you should get it thurs or friday. Thanks, Mike

Mike, give me a price with shipping for each. I think I may take both, but have to take a minute to think once I see cost.

Robert, package going in mail today. Should be there sat. Enjoy

Hi MIke, I"ve been reading this thread with some Envy... do you still have lots of this Persimmon left? I'm wondering if you'd consider a trade for product rather than wood (more catalpa!)

I just happen to have this pretty little 4" square of FBE sitting around that I'm envisioning as a shallow, curled-lip bowl to catch your keys on a table top or something. Interested in received a turned piece of Kevin's FBE in trade for some Persimmon?

Persimmon! I need to cut up one piece 1/2" x 3" x 6" for my sample collection, and then hopefully get a box top or two out of a thick piece, cutting around knots, etc? Why don't you wait to receive the turning, then judge what to send in return.
:clapping: Hooray for Woodbarter!

PS - give me about a week and I'll get it packaged up to send you.

Heck with that- how about a medium sized flat rate. Pm your address to me again and I will take it to the PO today, if that works for you. M :yipee::yipee:

Here is a piece of persimmon- dry-measurements are on the small side. Have no clue as to worth but I have a lot of it. It planes nice and I will use some in boxes but 400-500' would make more than a few boxes. Trade or sell......... It measures 34"x 6 1/2 x2 5/8. marked thickness is wrong.

To Mike and all, I have worked with persimmon and it is really interesting stuff. When finished with a scraper it can get smooth as glass. The stuff I worked with was clear throughout no streaks like pictured.

I even made a small bow saw out of it, just because it was different. Any way it is nice material and makes great accents for boxes or other small projects.

I'm making a small pot of Mike's Persimmon (actually two; it'll be a while before I post photos of the pair) and here's a pic of the outside turned, sanded, and one coat of Danish Oil added. I have yet to do the inside, but this wood burnishes up 'like glass' as people are saying. It showed a few rays, and Lots of chatoyance. Quite beautiful!
