Here are two pieces of Purple Leaf Plum that I cut up this spring. ShadeTree here on WB reminded me to look into my wood pile and I found these nice pieces. I had some wax on the ends of the smaller piece. These are currently soaking in DNA. A few little checks, but not too bad. The bark inclusions go about 1/2" into the larger piece, but should allow for two pen blanks to be cut.

They measure 2 x 6 x 12 and 1.75 x 9.5 x 4.5. ShadeTree (Joe) has first shot at these. I have a little more, but I need to dig them out of storage :treehugger: Willing to trade, whadya got? :sarcastic:

Hey Eric,

Let me dig in my stash, I have a piece of Pistachio I might be able to get a few nice pieces out of for a trade but I don't think I can do it today as I have to get my bride to the Doctor today.

Eric,

I'm afraid my Pistachio is not what I thought is was, Too long in this Arizona sun, unless you are into inlay in the cracks, I'm afraid I'll have to pass on the trade as I don't have much worth trading, but thank you for the first dibs, please pass it on to someone that has something you can use.

Thanks

Joe

Dang Joe,
Put some shoes on..........glad to know I am not to only one that goes "Toe Commando" in the shop:rofl2:
That one on the left is awesome. A little epoxy w/ some mica thinned w/ a little acetone and you would be golden.

Sandals are footwear but not shoes. Thus you are still "Shoeless Joe" and you owe "Cross-eyed Chris" an apology, and "Handy Dandy Dane" at least a rep for coining your now permanent moniker of . . .

"Shoeless Joe Shadetree".

:rotflmao3:

(Yes Handy Dandy you just got yours too :yipee:)

OMG! :rotflmao3::rotflmao3: I just breezed through this thread quickly over my lunchtime and wow! You guys make me laugh! This is awesome and put a smile on my face today. Thanks, I needed some humor :)

If it's still available, I'd like the piece on the left.

I've got lots of stuff to trade, listed here:

http://woodbarter.com/showthread.php?tid=90

I've also got a ton of all kinds of veneer if you have any interest

Hi Paul,

This piece is just rough cut with a chainsaw and is 3 1/2" thick and 8 1/2" wide and 14 1/2" long, I'd have to take a 1 1/2" off of it to make it fit a MFRB, or not cut it as you prefer, I have plenty, most of it just like this, and I can get more as we have a Pistachio farm about 60 miles away and when their trees die, they just put them in a giant pile and let folks cut it for firewood.

If you wish to trade, then the 2 1/8"x7 1/8"x14" piece of Zebrawood looks mighty fine to me, I should be able to get a nice number of pen blanks from it.

Thanks

Sorry Paul, I thought you were looking at the Pistachio not the Plum.

Well, I'd like to get some pistachio in a separate deal. Are you going to have any that is dried (air or kiln) ?

Hey Paul,

All of my Pistachio has been air drying for about a year and a half including the one pictured, but the quality leaves alot to be desired, if you were into filling cracks with stone or the like this would be perfect for you but that's about all that I have is good for at this time, I plan to go back to the farm in the fall and will get some quality wood then.

Hey Paul, I looked through your wood for trade and didn't see anything I had to have. The veneer sounds interesting. What type, size and qty are you thinking?

Thx

Chris, I have a little more of the plum. I just need to dig it out of storage and see how it is fairing. What are you thinking?

How about a cast bangle core. We can do cholla, pinecone or acorn caps. I think you know what the Cholla and Pinecone look like but here is a pic of the acorn caps. Does not have to be just plum I am open to anything with nice figure.

I've got about 100 species but they're all cut down to 12.5" long. If that's not a problem for you then as for amount, whatever you think is reasonable.
