1" x 7" x 18" with edge flaws, this stuff is great to work with and has marvelous tight ray flakes (fairly large ones on a perfectly quartersawn surface and very nice tight ones on flat cut surfaces --- see the pic a couple of posts down from here)

I'd be happy to cut off some of this if a smaller trade is warranted.

Please see http://www.woodbarter.com/showthread.php?tid=90&pid=464#pid464 for my barter interests

Looks like quarter sawn sycamore, except that last pic obviously isn't quarter sawn.

It's pretty similar to sycamore but there are some significant differences, especially on flat cut surfaces where sycamore is bland and this stuff is not --- take a look at the pics on my site to see what I mean.

Here's flat cut sycamore then flat cut silky oak:

Yeah - big difference. Does it have interlocking grain, and what does it look like qtr sawn?

Silky Oak is some pretty stuff.

Nope, grain not interlocked. There are lots of pics on my site. Quartersawn often has excellent ray flakes but not as big as sycamore.
