I have some excess cocobolo and bocote. Here are some pics of them. The cocobolo's are short and most of them have the original tags on them from when they purchased.

Looking for peppermill blanks, birdseye/quilted maple, anything burl, and other exotics.

The cocobolo pieces have darkened a bit so the color isn't as vibrant but if should come back once cleaned up. I have a few other pieces, but I just took pictures of a few of them. 1 picture of each side.

Let me know if you have any questions!

And a piece of rough bocote, not surfaced:

I kicked a few wood piles around and found this lonely, long, pepper mill blank. 5" x 5.25" x 37 1/2". The reds are more brilliant than can be seen through the wax. I can slice and end off if you want a peek. I can also crosscut it to lengths if you're interested in it.

Wow that is quite a beam. I would want to leave it as long as possible unless it put alot of extra burden on shipping charges. You also mentioned that other blank in the Vase topic... PM me with what you are looking for.

I'd be fine with the Bocote & Cocobolo as long as they have good figure as the ones shown. I can see the Bocote has some decent color variation through the dull, do you have more of that?. They're both beautiful. I'd be willing to trade even on the BF but would like to offer you more lumber so I can get more in return! :yipee:

Let me do some more digging . . . .

Here's more blanks.

4 x 4 x 10. I have a couple more to upload one is a 4 x 4 x 12 and a 5 x 5 x 10. I had to fix the attachment thingy. It's working again. Will have them up later maybe half an hour-ish.

is this 21" blank the same one in the vase post? I'm getting them all confused and want to make sure I don't commit to TOO much.

Any tips on how to dry these so that maybe I can turn them in the summer?

Me too. But yes I think it's the same one.

It's best to rough-turn them now. FBE (like most species) turns much easier wet than dry. Makes for less sanding because tear-out is reduced. After rough-turning, reseal them, bag them, stow them in a cabinet or somewhere out of light. Let htem dry slowly, and finish them off in a couple months.

How much Cocoblo & Bocote do you have (or are wanting to trade)? I'll just tell ya straight up I'm trying to get it all!. I love the stuff especially Cocobolo. I'll equal your BF and even go over a little to get nas much as you want to trade for so figure up your total BF.

I'm sure you already know but it's l x w x t / 144. Once I know this I'll figure up yours and throw in an extra blank on top of it.

D,

You probably already know this, but count 7/8" boards as 4/4 when figuring BF.

I'll have to get up in the rafters and see all what I have there. I probably have about about double what I show here. I'll have to figure out the BF. I know this stuff was retail $20-30/BF. I have no idea what FBE runs per BF. But of course want to make a fair trade.

I probably have 7BF shown and could come up with another 7, maybe 10

Here's my philosophy on barter.

I'd be willing to trade for all of it. I also retail my FBE at $20 - $30 and some for even more. I think a 1 to 1 swap would be fair, and I'd toss in a little extra for you as mentioned.

Read that thread, and see if you agree with how I approach a trade. I'm about to load the loader and head into the bush. Had to do some emergency fencing the past several hours or I'd already be out there.

So I'll hopefully (if nothing breaks) have some fresh-off-the-vine FBE for you to peruse later and will be able to mill to your specs.

I did get some logs Derek just haven't been able to mill. The rain is supposed to stop tonight & we're looking at no rain until at least next week - so the rumor is. I should have some milled pretty soon.

No problem, I still need to gather more wood as well.

Here are some pics of the other pieces that I found. 2 more pieces of cocobolo, one has a small knot and was marked down a few dollars on the sticker. 4 pieces of bocote, 1 piece similar to the others but with a little more sap, and 3 other pieces that are lighter in color (2 short and rough).

The first set of pics i figure to be 8.5 BF, and these would be a little over 6BF. So about 14.5BF in total if you like it all.

I don't even use the Bocote and I already miss it! Like my kid going off to college!

Daryl,

Here's the ones you expressed interest in. They come to 14.53 bf - actually a little more. I'm going to toss in another one also but you can't see it, it's a surprise.

We're in shipping mode for the next few days so there will be no delay once you give the word. They'll go out fedex ground or usps parcel. If fedex is not much more I'll send that way just to get the tracking which parcel doesn't have. I ask the same if it isn't much more via fedex for you. We can discuss the difference but I will not take time to weigh & rate yours until you give me the final go ahead.

Greyhound freight is not practical for us. We don't have a terminal nearby. I don't think you do either? They costs more also.

If you haven't pack them up yet, any chance to change out the one on the left with one of the peppermills from your new listing? I know that was like 5 inches wide, which is wider then I would need for a mill of that size.

Let me know, I'll try to pack up my wood tonight since the temperature is out of the 20's now.

Those smaller pieces are packed but not labeled. No problem though to cut the tape on top and swap it out. Will do it right now so I don't forget . . . .
