Ok, it had to be 2 pics and I only took one side. I also measured the moisture, which adjusted for temp turns out to be between 10 and 11 %...because it's like 50 degrees in the garage right now. Let me know which boards you want and I'll cull them out and get both sides of them in a picutre.

Yes, I'd be interested in all of it. I really appreciate your taking the time to take these photographs. It mostly looks like interesting stock to work with, so I don't see any need to cull out the runts. Would you take $120 + the tiger maple for it?

I'm kind of a noob when it comes to shipping wood. I'm gussing from the forun that the wood must be cut into 4 foot sections and palletized. I also think that the shipping can get fairly expensive. $120 and the tiger maple is fair as long as we can agree on shipping. What shipper should I get a quote from? Can you help with this?

I was able to get to the PO before noon and the wood got shipped today! The total shipping was $97, so we estimated pretty good. There are 3 packages, 69, 67, and 58 pounds on their way to you.

Rob, you are awesome! I want to thank you for all your hard work in putting this order together. I am very excited to have enough stock to do something more substantial in spalted maple. I know shipping this much wood isn't easy. Again, thank you for the speedy shipping.

Hi Mark, I see that the spalted maple has made it. Have you had a chance to peek at it and if so was the wood as you expected?

2 of the 3 boxes arrived safely, but the 3rd still hasn't turned up. But it isn't scheduled for delivery until tomorrow. The 2 boxes that did come are WONDERFUL! Excellent wood, I'm really excited. Thank you! Thank you!

I mailed the tiger maple out to you via Priority Mail and will IM you the tracking.

RE: Tiger Maple for trade

I called the PO today and they said they would not investigate why the 3rd box did not go to it's destination until 1/21. They said that it will likely go and was just sent on a different truck...yeah right.

I got the Tiger Maple today and WOW, it's beautiful. Thanks!

It's rare with priority but it happens. Worst case that happened to me was I shipped something to a guy in San Francisco and they found it in New Hampshire or one of those states up there. It would be difficult to make go in a direction so opposite as that.

RE: Tiger Maple for trade

Well, let's just see what happens. It may be in my local PO and they're too lazy to bring it out. They sent a special truck before because the 2 boxes were heavy, so maybe they're waiting until they have another special truck load.

Anyway, Rob, you did everything right, and I appreciate that, so I'm going to give the reputation point and hope for the best. You did a really nice job packing, so I doubt it was damaged. I really hope it does come because the wood is quite special.

RE: Tiger Maple for trade

I misunderstood post #25. I thought you were saying it did finally arrive. If you go to the PO in person and ask a clerk, they'll most likely do something for you. If not, ask for the postmaster.

I use two different POs one in the nearest city (small city of 10K people) and one just up the highway in my rural area. I've had to ask for the PM before at the city PO even though I know most of the clerks. I just ask nicely. The PM will almost always do something even if their regs say they don't have to yet.

If you actually never get it, you have a regional customer support number that when all else fails they will do everything they can to correct any problem. I've used mine twice and the lady both times was dogged about resolving my issue and both times she did.

One of those times was finding the lost package I mentioned above. She worked 6 or 7 hours to find that thing - she never gave up. I don't know if all regional investigators are like that or if I got lucky with having a good one. Come to think of it now, I had gotten her number from my rural PO lady I think it was not a listed number, so if you're in tight with one of the clerks ask them for the number.

Your last step is to initiate an MRC search request. MRC is your regions Mail Recovery Center. It's where all the undeliverables go. Used to be called the "dead letter office". If the label was ripped off or damaged to the point it can't be read, it goes to the MRC. You will have to fill out a form describing the package & its contents, and if by chance your sender happened to take a picture of it before shipping it they will forward those pics to the MRC personnel. If it's a standard USPS box it probably won't help much though. If you used a tracking option as suggested in the rules, they can know the last location where it was scanned and this will dramatically increase the odds of finding it.

I've never had to file a MRC search request but I was going to when my post lady gave me that regional number so I had explored the process. Hopefully you won't have to either but I wanted you to know that you have more options than what some of your locals may have told you.

Thanks Kevin, I think that I may have some time to follow up on this by the end of the week if need be, but the recent check that I performed shows:
Your item is out for delivery at 8:46 am on January 17, 2012 in AMBLER, PA 19002.

I'm not sure what that means, unless Mark is getting it back for some reason. It will be interesting to see if he gets it back. Usually if it's insufficient postage they'll deliver it anyway with a postage due before you can get it. You then have the opportunity to deny it or pay for it. I'm sure he didn't make that mistake though - he seems like a squared away guy.

Can't wait for the update Mark. I love a good mystery (as long as it isn'y my wood. :mocking:).

Ok, there appears to be some confusion about all this, but it looks like it may be finally delivered today. This is the 3rd box of spalted maple that Rob sent me. 2 boxes showed up earlier than expected, then the expected delivery date of the 3rd box went by which caused some worry. But its parcel post, so I knew it could take some time.

Then magically yesterday further tracking info appeared but nothing was delivered. So let's hope it arrives this week.

Again, Rob you've been great, and you don't need to follow up - if it doesn't show up by Friday, I'll contact my local postmaster Monday.

RE: Tiger Maple for trade

Ok, finally we have closure. The last package was delivered today. It looks like the post office was not kind to the box, but I'm very grateful it finally arrived as there are many beautiful colors in the wood. It is truly spectacular, and Rob I can't thank you enough.
