@Wilson's Woodworking I've been pm'ing Danny today trying to work a trade. Some flat stock in exchange for him to possibly finish an intarsia project I got started but never finished and possibly a sea turtle scene scrolled out. My wife loves sea turtles so im trying to suprise her. I'm posting a picture of what I got started to see if he thinks he can salvage it haha I love turning but am definitely below average on scrolling. Let me know if you think you can work with this.

Oh yeah and I have a piece of paper with the pattern and all the numbers of the pieces on it and there's a number on every piece as well. I didn't start the head yet. I left most of the pieces big to be sanded down to size. But some of the pieces are cut from the same piece of wood and were cut side by side. The woods are cocobolo, lace wood and curly maple. I tried to choose woods to pattern a sea turtles shell and skin.

We have a deal. After talking to Josh via pm he reminds me of my oldest son. I look forward to getting this one finished and hope it puts a big smile on his wife's face.

Here's a variety. Some of these are long boards so let me know what you would like to have more or less of, I can put some of that walnut in there too. The woods are bloodwood, padouk, purpleheart, satinwood, ebony, really curly maple, bubinga and lacewood. 20141221_091350.webp

Here's another picture. The padouk is actually pretty red and chatoyant but the camera doesn't capture it well. I'm planning on sending a lfr game box so I can get you a good variety. 20141221_091927.webp

What pieces would you like more or less of. I'm gonna try and cram the box as full as I can.

Like I told you in the pm I would have done this one for free. The wood is just a bonus. The wood pictured is WAY MORE than I expected. You put in whatever you want to.
Thank you.

Well I appreciate the help. And if you wanna try something new I'd still be interested in a scrolled sea turtle scene haha if you want to do one of those sometime too I can always send more wood haha

Glad you like it! I hope it isn't too small to work with. I threw in an extra piece of lacewood of the same thickness and 2 of cocobolo I think in case you have to recut or fix any. Thanks for taking on the job! I know my wife us gonna love it!

I hope you like and can use the stuff I put in there, I don't remember if I labeled it all but if I didn't I can identify it for you. Sorry I didn't have any green woods for you!

I know what most of the wood is but there are a couple that I have to figure out. As far as green goes there are only a couple that I know of and they are hard to come by. I will probably have to die some light colored wood to do those projects although I try to use all natural colors. Believe me to someone doing intarsia that box was good as gold

If you need natural green I know a lumber supplier who gets in alot of poplar and often some of the pieces are fairly green. If you can wait until after the first week of January I can look and see what he has and send you some. I've thought of picking some up just for the color.

I appreciate the offer but that will have to be another trade. You have already sent to much on this one. I do have a little poplar with a light green cast to it but always looking for greener color.

Turtle in process.webp I got started on the Turtle and just wanted to show you the progress so far. I have the upper part of the shell fitting to my likings and am just starting on the skirting of the shell. I have been using CA glue and tacking the pieces together and cutting them back apart to get the gap between pieces as small as possible. It takes some time to get everything just right but I think it will look good when I get done.
