I am running a bit low on exotics or burls or other spiffy stuff and a couple of folks have talked about a possible trade. Here is what I was thinking, I will build you a turkey trumpet, just add the blank you want used to what is shipped no need to worry about the mouthpiece I have that covered. I need blanks that are at least 1"x 1" x 5" that I could add a wider piece to the bell end or larger which I could turn the entire trumpet from. 1 1/4" minimum is what I need for me to get the exhaust end wide enough. So a regular 1 1/2" x 6" call blank works great but as short as 4 1/2" will work if you have some cutoffs. Cocobolo is probably out even though I love it but it is making me sick so....

I have plenty of the usual stuff like maple, walnut, cherry, you get the idea, what I need is something that I can use for the calls for a WOW factor like the little piece of amboyna burl @Steve Smith sent me. Not a great pic and this is before it was buffed to 12000.

I am going ty o come back to this after I get caught up on a few things. I really like trumpets even though I am pretty sure I would never be able to call a turkey with one. I have a small collection of them and wouldn't mind adding one of yours.

Guy's this is a deal I did with Tommy and I was very pleased. His Trumpets are very sweet and once you get the technique down you really like them.

Wish I turkey hunted, I've always liked the looks of these!

I kinda want one but all I have to offer is Russian olive burl that is still wet and I have no idea what to do with a turkey trumpet. Lol. I don't even hunt turkeys. That could change though...

@ghost1066 OK Tommy any interest in any of these? When I start digging through my stash I find out how plain my stuff is!!

Left to right: Curly Birch 2" x 8", Curly Birch 1.75" x 7 .25", Apple 1.625" x 6.75", Black Ash Burl 1.75" x 5.875", Red Elm 2" x 5.5", Spalted Tamarind 1.5" x 2.625" x 6"
top row: Sycamore 2" x 5.5", Apple 1.5" x 5.5"
Bottom row: Apple 1.5" x 5.5"

Second picture everything turned to show another side

@Wildthings Those blanks look good but to be honest I have all the sycamore and elm available I could ever use but we are getting there. Which blank are you wanting to turn for yourself if we get there?

@ghost1066 OK delete the elm and sycamore - what's getting there mean? I do have more tamarind and Black Ash Burl. The blank I was going to send for me is a Yellow Cedar Birdseye if that would work?

@Wildthings Yes I would love to make one out of the yellow cedar. Just one question about the tamarind and the BAB are they solid enough to turn as is I have no way to stabilize? From the pics it looks like it is. If you would swap out the elm and sycamore for BAB if you have enough that will work or both BAB and tamarind if not. The apple and beech I can use for glue ups with ABW.

@ghost1066 As I am finishing up on a casting project I am working on casting some blanks to offer up for a trade. Are there any colors that you would not want to work with. The blanks will be 1 3/16 x 7

I would love to have a trumpet. But I won't be able to cut anything for about 2-3 months. If you do this sort of trade again tag me. I'd like in on it later on.

Are you still healing from your surgery Marc? I thought you were good to go and back in the shop from that.

Marc I will do this trade anytime someone wants to. I am always looking for material and making a trumpet now is no big deal since I have made enough to have it pretty well down.
