**ENDED** Trumpet for Wood Trade?

Are you still healing from your surgery Marc? I thought you were good to go and back in the shop from that.

That was the last surgery you're thinkin of. Last Tuesday I had rotator cuff surgery....
:nutkick:

Marc I will do this trade anytime someone wants to. I am always looking for material and making a trumpet now is no big deal since I have made enough to have it pretty well down.

Sweet! Thanks Tom...:good2:

Sorry I couldn't resist :sarcastic:. I have never answered to Tom in my life, neither did my Dad or his Dad, you might as well be calling me Bill or Larry, I simply don't hear it. Shortening a name is something that pretty much never happens in this area. When I was doing industrial electrical work I had to explain that to people that came in to work and called me Tom. If they got into trouble and started yelling Tom :scare3: to get my attention they could very well be dead before it ever registered to me.

Interesting....A few of the Tom's I know up here insist on them being Tom...not Tommy. I can relate to it though in that I can't stand when people spell my name with a K...

Funny I couldn't remember what part of the country you were in and when I saw it went well that explains it. Every time I am talking to someone and the do the Tom thing I just look at them and go "You are from up north right?" The answer has always been yes. Just a regional thing just like we would never call our parents by their names but I have been in many areas where they do.

At first I thought that was strumpet. Got all excited and seeing how much wood I could send. But, common sense got the better of me. Even a good strumpet not worth my wood.

That is just a disrespect thing!:redcard: Of coarse a parent that would encourage such a thing really deserves no respect. They just want to be their kids best friend instead of their parent.:scare3: Kids need structure in their lives. When they hit the teen years you will know nothing because they know it all. Don't worry they will grow out of it. :sarcastic:
Sorry but that one just lights my fuse.:sofa:

Sorry Danny I should have been more specific. I meant when they were grown not kids. I know people that once grown call their parents by their first names I can say I have never heard that here but it was common in Illinois area where I was working for a bit and in several other areas.

@Wildthings Barry the box arrived today I'm sure I got a cussin' from the mail lady since it was raining when she had to bring it to the porch. Beautiful wood that I have already laid out how I am going to cut it to get more out of it than I planned. Too pretty to waste any if I can help it.

Tell that mail lady that's her perspective!! Right now here at my house I would love to be getting wet because of rain!! If you remember all the floods going on back in May & June here. Total precipitation at my house for the month of July = ZERO!! A rain shower came by yesterday to raise the humidity to 101% during this 100° heat Yikes all it did as dampen the concrete

On another note is the BAB and Tamarind solid enough?

It got dry here too we need the rain with all this heat. Everything looks fine I have more BAB here that I can't use because it is so soft but I might head out and turn a piece of this in a bit it is beautiful.

@ghost1066 , I know this is not what you asking for , but I figured I would give it try , because I got to have me one of those trumpets. I have four blanks of stabilized spalted maple for pot calls : they are 1 1/16" thick and 4" round , I hit them with lacquer for pictures . Let me know. Tommy, finally got a little time to slow down , here is what I came up with, 10 blocks plus the 4 stabilized pot call blanks mentioned above. All blocks go from 1 7/16 square to 1 7/8 square and are from the short oak burl which is 5 1/2" to 11" long hopefully you can read that on the blanks. The dark one is Honduras rosewood which is 1 5/8 x6 , I will stabilize the fbe, maple and beech. IMG_20150812_204931628.webp

I contacted Tommy via conversation about doing a couple cholla tum pets for me in exchange for cholla trumpet blanks and this is what I came up with. The two on the far right are the ones I want turned and the are green and red/black. The five tow the left are for you and from left to right they are antique silver, a two tone green, brown and green (should look kind of camo when it is turned), bronze and black/gold. What do you think?
