A couple folks have asked about platter blanks- Sorry about pictures still nursing sore back but better back so I am just giving pictures that represent what I have. Please ask if you have specific interests. Walnut 2"-4" to 22"-maple2-3" to 22"+-, Elm 1 7/8" to 18" and persimmon 2-3" to 18". all dry. Please do not hesitate to ask for pictures. Enjoy

Just to keep up with the rules- Dean and I are going to trade Olive for persimmon. Now that I have boiled some and my house smells like a winery I might as well keep it that way-saves on the air freshener budget!!!!:teethlaugh:

Lets start with 3 of them 16-18 square. I will reciprocate with olive or Myrtle burl if you want. Or both.

Hey Mike, I am waiting for my customer to return my call.:i_dunno: I want a more definitive answer on the size before I order material. Since I have a deposit in the bank, I am sure that we are going to make a platter, it is just a question of how big.

Did i hear MYRTLE BURL. Would love to get a hold of some of that. I believe I will just have to stop checking in on this site. Seems there is always and I do mean always someone that is posting and or boasting about some really unique lumber that is only whispered about in South Dakota because we do not seem to have much of it , so most do not even know about it.
Just got and idea-- what if I were to open a "wood - to -look-at" place say at my house. then you fellow woodworkers could send a couple of flat rate boxes of all the different kinds of wood especially the burls-curls -quilted etc (we really lack those here). I then would display the wood and maybe make a few small projects-- just so people could see what it looks like in project form.
i believe that it could drum up some businees as I would tell them how and where to get some for themselves.
Let me know what ya think. I am willing to put forth the effort on this end to educate South Dakota.
