This may not be the correct forum, so I'll understand if it's moved elsewhere. With that said, I'm curious about the type of wood that any of you would be interested in. Specifically, are you interested in pen blanks, stopper blanks, larger turning stock, flat stock, slabs, burls, knife scales, etc?

Beyond that, are there particular species that you would like to see?

I've acquired a variety of turning stock over the past few years, and I'd be willing to swap some of it… I'd be able to sort through more effectively if I knew what kind of thing you folks were looking for.

I think you'll have much better luck posting s specific piece or pieces. I know from experience how confusing these "open" queries can turn out. I am just getting things sorted out - sort of. :blush:

My advice is for you to look at your stuff and ask yourself "What are the nicest pieces that I don't want" and list pictures of them. Not too many in one post though, maybe 2 or three pieces in a thread, then start another thread with another 2 or 3 pieces. Just my advice though it is not a rule or anything. :empathy:

I'll agree with Kevin. There is a large variety of woodworkers here that are into differnt things. Even just among the turners, theres guys here who want large chunks for vaces and hollow forms and rookies like me who are still turning pens and bottle stoppers.

If the wood you post is really cool though, it wont matter what the size is, someone will want it. People buy and trade everything from pen blanks to giant slabs that have to be shipped via truck freight!!

I'd like to find some burls or exotics to trade.

I've got a ton of pen blanks with most of them being exotic or burly... The trouble is that I'm fixed for cherry for the foreseeable future!:dash2:
 
David, if you're interested in any FBE I will send you a mediuml flat rate box if you'll send Levi a MFRB of your stuff and he can send me a MFRB of Cherry - I don't have much Cherry at all.

That sounds interesting to me, Kevin. I'm sure I could put together a MFRB of assorted goodies, and I'd love to have some FBE! I'm in if Leviblue is interested... If not, I'll bet I can fill a FRB with cherry for you.

If you want two boxes of cherry, I can send you one as well... For those of you keeping score at home, that would be two boxes of FRB to Keller and two boxes of cherry to Kevin(one from me and one from Leviblue). Leviblue would receive one MFRB of assorted burly and/or exotic stuff from me for pens and stoppers. :wacko1:

I'll be waiting to hear from you two...:morning1:

I like figured stuff, so whoever is sending me whatever, don't feel as though you have to stick with Cherry only. I love surprsies. Especially if they have those ugly stripes in the wood. :yipee:

David I'm going to upgrade your medium box to a large if you're going to send me some wood also. In fact you're going to be very happy with what I send. PM your address please.

I received a box of goodies today from DKMD (David Keller). It was a great surprise when I got home and couldn't wait to open it. Now how he got all that packed in the box is beyond me. I tried to get it all back in and didn't even come close. :scratch_one-s_head:

I'm glad it arrived, Kevin… I hope you find some interesting stuff in that mix. I'm betting that Texas Kevin should have gotten his box from me today as well… They were mailed at the same time.
 
Wow, this got confusing all the sudden!!

Hey DK, I'm interested in a swap for some of your "exotic and burly" pen stock if you would be interested in some curly maple. I'd be willing to swap a LFRB of my maple for a MFRB of your stuff of your choosing. I'd offer something besides maple but its all I really have to trade. You need some!?!

I love curly maple! I've got pen stock in curly maple... Have you got larger pieces? If so, I'm definitely down for a trade! I don't care if it's dry or not.

Larger stock as in flat stock or turning stock? I have lots of flat stock. I do have one chunk of turning stock. I'll go get you a measurement and a pic here shortly.
 
This is the only chunk of turning stock that I have. If your interested I will chop it down to fit in whatever FRB works best and you send me whatever you think its worth in burly and exotic pen blannks.

Dimentions are 1 7/8" thick, 6" wide and 29 1/4" long

I wish I could do the swap, but that piece wouldn't really fit into my normal turning schemes. Keep on the lookout for turning stock... I'll have pen blanks.
