**ENDED** WTT waterfall bubinga slab

You've got some really incredible slabs there, and you shouldn't get rid of them unless you're getting something you really love. No one will fault you for not taking a deal, and I don't think anyone is going to get their feelings hurt.

I'll see if I can dig up any coco that might work better, but those pieces have the most sap of any that I have (though I have some with better figure).

The big question is, are you interested in the boards I posted? What you paid and what I have are worth about the same. I can say for certain, finding gaboon that wide that is DRY is not easy to find. I also have all black if that is something you want but I thought you wanted a contrast.

I'll get back to this thread later if I have time. Doing an emergency job for a fellow cabinetry owner who's son served in Afghanistan and unfortunately took his life after returning home. So I might not be able to get in front of the computer much. Have a lot to build, finish, and install by Wednesday.

Prayers going out to that young mans' family. Praying they can find some peace, comfort, strength in this terrible situation.

That's really sad, my prayers go out to his family.

Man that's heartbreaking. We went through that recently with some friends. Extremely difficult situation.

Heartbreaking and extremely humbling. I'll let him know next time I see him he has prayers coming in for he and his family from all over the country. It's been a really quiet day in the shop. Everyone is extremely focused and on their A game. My boss asked all of us this morning what we thought about doing the whole job for Mr. Lenning for free; down to the material. It made me really proud when there was no hesitation from anyone to say they wouldn't have it any other way. However small the gesture is to this soldier's family, we want them to know we are deeply thankful for their son's service to our country and offer our deepest condolences in the only way we can.

Alrighty, back to this thread now that everything is taken care of.

Pete I'm going to hold off just because I want to see what other possible trades come through. I do keep coming back to look at that first from the left Macassar ebony slab. I am waiting to see if anything comes along that really grabs my eye. If you have anything else you you might be willing to trade for just post pictures. Trying to keep my options open.

Mike thanks for the offer on the quilted maple, but I'm going to pass.

Do you have any interest in mesquite slabs? I've got a few good sized ones I could post pics of if you have interest. Tony

Hey Tony,

honestly I've never worked with it besides using it for the smoker. I think the only thing I've seen for woodworking is the occasional burl cap which are nice. Pictures are worth a thousand words though! I'll never decline at least taking a look.

My attitude to this thread is really just to keep the possibility of trade open. I don't have immediate plans to use them. I figured I would throw them up and if anyone wanted them they could just post pictures and we will see if we can work something out.

Tamarisk:http://i3.Rule #2/albums/y69/Qbilder/tamarisk002.jpg

Mulberry:http://i3.Rule #2/albums/y69/Qbilder/newyearburls001.jpg

Also got some 2"ish thick froghair curl hard maple slabs that are 5' long x 10" wide, flitch. I'll have to measure the tamarisk & maple burl slabs I have, but they are all larger than the bubinga. The mulberry is 2-3" if memory serves, 5' long & up to 24" wide. If any of this stuff is of interest, let me know. I'd like to snatch up some good bubinga.

I wasn't thinking yet, just fishing :nodice: But now that you're interested, do you have anything in mind? I'll measure the slabs I have.

The big slab is 5.5' x 16"avg x 1-7/8". It is burly & curly with some movement. Not a big deal if resizing for projects, but not a great candidate for a table top. The other slab is 45" x 12"avg x 2-1/4" thick, and is quite stable & flat. It's burly & curly, too, so there will be some checking & voids & bark inclusions in both slabs. It's about the same density as hard maple, with grain more similar to elm or sycamore. Both slabs are rust red in color. I can clean them up and wet them for a pic if you'd like.

I have access to a unlimited supply of high quality pine, in any width you want. 2x4 2x6 2x8 2x10 2x12 just name the amount and i'll run out to Home Depo......er I mean my wood storage shed and get you some.

seriously though really nice looking slabs!

If no deals are done then i can post some Honduran rosewood burl slabs, or some snakewood if you care for either thanks .

Cliff,

No deals have been made yet (I hope I'm not offending anyone by not making any deals so far). I'm looking for something that just makes me feel like I gotta have it. Which is essentially how I felt when I bought these two slabs of bubinga. If I have to add cash I can depending on what it is/size/figure yadda yadda. I'm waiting to see if Kevin will shoot me some pictures of some supposedly spectacular slabs of FBE. Not in any rush to make a quick decision here.

Eric, I'm going to mull the tamarisk over for a bit. It's a cool looking wood. I've never seen it or even heard of it being used. I checked it out online today and tried to pull up lumber suppliers that had it. Essentially no one had any for sale. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing, but it sure doesn't make it any easier to appraise.

If nothing really catches my eye this time around just keep it in the back of your minds that I have the stuff. If you want to try and make a trade later on just shoot me some pictures of whatever you have to offer for trade. Like I said, I have no immediate plans to use these slabs for anything so they'll be kicking around.
