What do you mean? He said he was going to sell them right?
I'm just busting your chops. You jumped on that one quick, that's all. It's a gorgeous piece of wood for sure!
What do you mean? He said he was going to sell them right?
And I'll buy all the rest!
there won't be any "rest" if I can help it lol.

I'm only interested in the bubinga slabs Cody just yaning your chain. He probably won't sell them anyway he likes to tease us.

Crap!I will buy the bubinga slab for what you have in it plus send you some FBE for your smaller projects if that interests you.
Crap!
:(
And I could have gotten tops for 4 different gorgeous guitars out of those slabs....
Hey, Kev.... assuming he sells them to you....how'd ya like a nice custom bass guitar?;)
Oh....yeah, he did only say he was "toying" with the "idea" of letting "figured wood" go......, I've been toying with idea of letting all of the figured wood I had been buying go.

Noncommittal... of course. Hoarding figured/rare woods is part of our nature here at WB. We can all see in our minds the things we can turn such beautiful material into. For me it comes down to not having the extra time to pour into small projects anymore and the desire to just do nice work and get paid. The custom cabinetry/furniture I'm doing now doesn't require such figured stuff and the start up business eats up all of my time. Much of my work requires bigger lumber/ slabs and as nice as some of these pieces I have are, they're just not big enough for the work I do. That's where veneer comes in if they want figured without the figured hardwood price.
So yes, I am "toying" with the idea of just letting it all go at this point. I invested money into it. I ended up not having the time to make all the hundreds of things I dreamed of when I saw the wood and purchased it. But as any wood hoarder has, I too have that emotional attachment which is hard to get over. That "oh, but I could take this wood and make THIS!"... Whatever the hell/ whenever the hell THIS actually gets around to happening.
Alot of what people call waterfall bub is just bubinga with some interesting squiggley figure, while the real WF bubinga is easy to spot right away. Im guessing some sellers use this confusion to basically, well...rip people off..and can just claim ignorance if found out. It can be tempting though i suppose. I have a 15' slab of it, 54" wide, s2s, 2 live edge and is figured as heck. Ill get someone wanting some and i will show them the difference as i have 1 killer slab of wfb to compare. Then they are prepared to go forth into the world with new found knowledge bla. Lol.. Cant really see the figure in the one pic but it isnt waterfall..but due to the amount of figure, most people wouldn't argue that it wasn't wfb..cept us woodbarter guys, we know the difference!Good post Yusuke. It will probably help some. It will probably not help others. Nature of the beast. Figured wood is a crap shoot. What you call 'waterfall' some would just call 'figured'. The internet has done 2 things; it has made it easier for buyers, and easier for sellers. It's also made it harder for buyers, and harder for sellers. Okay I guess that's 4 things.
