I’m a long way from investing time and money into call making. But I really think I may get into it closer to retirement. I think taking a woodworking class would be good. What equipment is necessary for making duck calls, turkey pot calls, strikers and trumpets? Based on what little work I’ve done with my new bandsaw, I think a dust collection system would be in order.

If I had a chance to start over with knowledge I have- Good DC would have been first purchase.

I would recommend a lathe. The largest of the midsize lathes you can afford. That is a necessity if you are turning calls. The lathe bug is usually a growing little pest. A great midsize will handle pens, calls, boxes...
