Estate sale haul

Went to an estate sale for a “retired from turning”, turner. Evidently, he had to go to a nursing home. He had a fantastic wood shop and a nice wood collection that was “kinda all over the place”. Turning and flat stock. I bought a bunch of stuff. Curly and burls.

The pic below is of turning stock. A full pickup truck bed full. Some exotics too. That’s a small Brazilian tulipwood log in the front/middle.

I have to go back and get most of the flat stock. I couldn’t get any more in my truck.

Nice John! I scan the estate sales here weekly, but its been a long dry spell since I have found a good wood score, and then it is lumber, never got any tasty turning stock like that, congrats!

This was a happy accident. Had a couple turning friends heading home to Iowa. They drove past the house/shop in a rural area with the Estate Sale signs out by the road. They pulled in not knowing it was a turners estate.

They “shopped” then called me and said I should high-tail it out there if I could.

70 miles and an hour (+) later I was shopping too. Lots of tools and wood.

Unloaded these today after surfacing. A few of these came from the sale: Bloodwood and Bocote, for sure. Also, have some nice Curly Maple and other figured domestic species that need surfacing.
Brazilian Tulipwood, Kingwood and Ziricote already had in our collection of boards.
