I just got this board on eBay. The seller said it's plantation grown in Hawaii. It is considerably different than the other piece i own (that was also from Hawaii but a different seller).

This board feels significantly harder. It has a color and hardness comparable to African padauk, just without the ashiness. In fact, it has a high natural luster just from being surfaced. The grain is more open than my other piece, but the end grain exhibits very small pores and a high pore density.

Does this look right for robusta? I can do more advanced measuring and testing if need be.

The features can fit. Most of the swamp mahonay I have handled was a bit darker. I know there are Lyptus plantations there. You might want to do a little more digging.

Digging for what exactly? I actually thought this was quite dark, but the seller has several pieces and they varied a bit in shade.

Light is relative. Not sure what it looks like in hand but looks more pink on my screen than the closer to red. Digging, implying look into plantations known on the islands. The Swamp mahogany I last got from there was either a street tree or yard tree.

It's definitely not pink. It's a burnt orange or orange-red. The end grain is pretty red
