I recently placed an order with Woodwise UK for the purposes of acquiring Mgurure; however, I found that they were quoting a flat rate shipping of $35 no matter how much I added to my cart, so I ended up stocking up on a bunch of stuff that is hard or impossible to find stateside or was just generally a good deal. One such rarity was European Plum (Prunus domestica) live edge slabs. At the time, I could only find 1 US retailer that was currently offering EU Plum lumber at all, never mind live edge slabs. So I figured this is not that common, and the dimensions too seemed rather large for plum. I ended up buying the only 2 slabs Woodwise had in stock - 1500x180-250x27 (59" x 7-10" x 1-1/16") and 1615x260-320x28 (63.5" x 10.25-12.5" x 1-1/8"). Although I want plum, I really didnt need live edge slabs, certainly not slabs this long. I mainly bought them to extract long and wide 4/4, and this way is cheaper than buying a bunch of turning blanks.

Anyway, this is more than I need or would probably use anytime soon. So I thought I might see if anyone is interest in trading. I don't have any specific needs, but I am always interested in hard and heavy species, super colorful species, wild grain patterns, high figure, ultra rare species, etc. Certainly it would be ideal to keep these whole as they are much more valuable that way, but I imagine shipping would be cost prohibitive. I can always quote it and see though. But I'm open to cutting them up as part of a trade as well. I'm not married to either slab, so both are fair game.

Let me know if you're interest, what size you'd like, and what you have to offer for a trade.

p.s. - the Pink Ivory slab is not for sale

Flat rate for shipping? I will absolutely abuse that. Cool slabs. They look steamed judging from the missing sapwood to heartwood contrast. That should make them more stable.

Yeah I was astonished by the shipping price. I thought for sure they would call me to say they had to cancel the order. But instead they just called to ask if they could cut the 8ft Amazique board in half to ship it lol It really was just $35 to ship a little under 1200GBP worth of wood to the US. Even the duties only came to $90US, but they of course only claimed it was worth 400GBP lol.

Good point about the steaming. I hadn't even thought of that. I just figured it was not a particularly colorful piece of plum (though plum loses its color anyway).

Not like that. The reds and purples turn brown or if in the sapwood disappear. But otherwise it doesn’t get so pastel.

This is also a location with piss poor lighting. That's the door to the cedar closet in my basement, which is next to the HVAC units. SO there's just 1 fairly dim yellow light there. Although they are relatively uniform in color, they are not quite as dark as they appear here.
