What would the policy be for posting wood for trade via facetime to work out the trade & post the details in the forum? I like the idea of meeting the person & or shop- seeing the woods that folks are willing to trade. I use my iPhone all the time for work related stuff & it would be useful for folks like me who have way more wood than they will ever photograph & post for trade. I mostly reply to threads of peoples wants & then post pic's of those woods.

I wanted to ask before I posted anything in the wood for trade forum.
Thoughts?

That is new territory as far as I know, but nothing would be different. You can work out the details in any way you like - phone call, email, snail mail, PM's (Conversations now) face time, smoke signal - whatever works. Trades just need to start and in the in open. Keep us updated on though. Very interesting and I could imagine very useful. You could get a realtime 360 degree review of a piece of wood before you made a decision...

I don't see a problem with it either.

But....the topic made must have pertinent info on the deal. Not just "Hey we are doing a trade". That way if there's any slack about the deal it is in writing, so to speak.

My plan was to list ad as Anyone with an Iphone up for a facetime trade.

We set time to have the facetime, agree on trade & then post I bill will be sending ...piece of wood, post picture & the other party would do the same.

Bill - Thanks for clarifying your intent. I would have to say whoa to that. The problem with that is it excludes some people - a lot of people in fact, and thats not WB. It negates the first right of refusal concept and opens up a whole new can of worms that just are not manageable. You can post a piece of wood for sale and then show and discuss it on FaceTime, but to try to hold a live sale could cause a lot of problems. What if two people speak at the same time or signal problems delay a FaceTime transmission? How would moderators help to sort things out?
As I think that through I have to firmly say no to that style sale. Feel free to work out the details via FaceTime, but keep with the traditional rules of the forum. Thanks for your understanding.

You may be ahead of the times. I can see someone making a go of what you are thinking but it will be a different rule set and a different venue. Who knows - you could cross ebay with a live auction venue and become a millionaire.

Yep, better be careful... pretty sure Apple has patented iWB, and we don't need any infringement cases shutting us down.
