I was out in the sugar woods this afternoon and snapped a picture of my favorite tree on the property. This woods has been used for maple syrup production for over 200 years, old map's of the to the town note it as a large sugar woods. I've salvaged dead trees of a similar size and they are usually well over 150 years old. The centers are usually rotten or hollow making an accurate ring count impossible. The old big ones are slowly dieing off and younger trees are filling the space. This one looks incredibly healthy and should last another 50 or more years.
