Went to the only hardwood dealer I know in this area and picked out a couple nice poplar boards with interesting grain patterns. These will be the top, sides, legs and braces for a printer stand i've been diddling with. I have this really pretty piece of feathered walnut I got on here (I think it was Rob or maybe Eric, but don't hold me to that). There will be four drawers in this thing for paper, ink, miscellaneous. I want to make the drawer fronts from this walnut - or maybe I'll cut up that cocobolo board my Dad brought back from Panama. But before I make a decision I thought I'd check to see if anyone has a piece of walnut that would compliment the one I already have. I need a piece with usable dimensions of 8" x 14" X 0.75" or larger.

Don't have any dry right now. Just got a bunch more walnut logs yesterday, some crotches too.

I most likely have feathered walnut in 3/4. I also have curly walnut in 1" thickness as I tend to hoard it when I find it and use it in my projects. Would you be interested in curly walnut possibly with some sapwood to provide a nice contrast to the dark brown in walnut?

Are you looking for 4 pieces then in the size listed above? I'm afraid if I sent 3 the color might not match the one feathered board you have as I see a lot of different color tones in walnut depending on the log.

@DLJeffs I’ll see what I can find later today. Do you only need one piece?

Thanks for checking Jason. That photo of the piece I have is pretty close, maybe a little darker in real life. This piece doesn't have to match the one I have exactly but if I use that walnut for two I'd prefer the other two were also walnut. I might use that cocobolo I have instead, still trying to decide. I'm planning on four drawers, approx 14" X 4", so a board that has a usable dimension of 14" X 8" will make the other two drawer fronts, or two smaller boards would work just as well. If you find a piece that goes nicely with the one I photographed maybe post a photo and a price and that'll help me choose?

Thanks Rob. Yes, I plan on 4 drawers roughly 14" X 4" and the piece I have (pretty sure it came from you) is enough for two. I'm still trying to decide if I want to cut that cocobolo board and might still do that. But I thought I'd check to see if anyone has a match to that feathered walnut piece and how much they want for it before making the choice.

@whitewaterjay and @rob3232

Spent a little more time measuring stuff and thinking about this and decided I'm going to use that piece of cocobolo I have for the drawer fronts. It's rough-edged, slightly cupped and has a usable width of a little over 6 inches, which means it's going to take a little trimming to get a flat, square board out of it to begin. The thickness is a little over an inch so after I get it flat I'll see if I can resaw it into two usable drawer fronts or simply plane each board down to 3/4" or so. But I like the idea of using that board for something we'll hold onto. thanks anyway guys. Hope I caught you before you spent a bunch of time looking. If you did, it won't be time lost as I'm sure I'll use that beauty piece of walnut for another project soon.

Well, dang!!! You're correct, that wasn't time wasted. Those first two are really pretty and would cooperate nicely with the board I already have. Maybe I should pick one up for the future project. Can you give me a price on one or the other of those two? Or both I guess?

After looking through stack I think these are the only pieces that I have this wide over a foot long? I'm probably going to hang onto them for now since you're not going to use them. I haven't looked through all of the stacks yet so I may find more eventually? I usually sell it for 25-30 a bf. If you find yourself in dire need I would sell piece "A" for $48 plus shipping. It's 9 1/4 x 30 x 1 with a slight bow in it.

Thanks Rob. Completely understand and agree. I don't have a specific need. I'll reach out to the WB when I do get one. I did cut the wood for the frame of my printer stand today. BUt I need to go over to my buddy's house to use his joiner to square up the edges before I can proceed.

shoulda read more. didn't see you already cut up your coco
Thanks Mike, haven't cut it up yet but I'm 99% sure I'll go that direction. Kind of been looking for a project to use that cocobolo on and get it out of my way. I'm good for now, thanks.
