Feedback on JET 13" helical head lunchbox planer

I got the opportunity to get a JET 13" Benchtop Helical Head Planer JWP-13BTHH(JT1-2989) for... Cheap. The issue is that i already own a DeWalt 734 and installed a findbuytool helical head on it a few months back. The two are nearly identical planers from what i can tell. The only difference i see is that the JET has a 13" capacity compared to the DeWalt 12.5" capacity. But i still need to decide which is the best to keep and which to sell.

Anyone have experience with this or any other JET lunchbox plans? Thoughts and opinions on it? How problematic is snipe? Are the infeed and outfeed tables solid?

Generally speaking, i have no issues with my DeWalt. I do get snipe without using a sled though, so that's really been my only complaint.

Jet has had some problems with other tools they make lately. I've heard lots of bad things about their bandsaws. So that has me a little concerned, especially since DeWalt seems to be the king of benchtop planers.

I'd appreciate any feedback from anyone who has used this jet planer.
 
I have a 2000 jet TS a 16/32 sander, a belt and 14" circle sander. And had a 18" bandsaw sold bandsaw because i wanted brake. Have not had any problems with any of them.

Are these newer models? The issue that I've heard with JET relate to the more modern models that come from China and Taiwan. It's all anecdotal as well I suppose, so I'm not necessarily saying that any of these claims are gospel or anything.

My tools mostly range from 2000 to 2010. But my understanding is for most part made in same factories. Jet PM grizz
Why would you change.? The 1/2". I had the dewalt. Lunch box at first, changed to 15" delta. More width power but the noise levels. So much quieter.

Basically, I got the JET for free. Technically it was free; however, I have to pay income tax on the list price of the tool. So come tax time I will pay about 40% x $800 = $320 because the IRS, state, and local tax offices consider it income. I am an Amazon Vine reviewer, if you know what that is. All Amazon Vine items I get are considered income, and I get a 1099 at the end of each year. That 1099 has the total list price of every item I got on Vine for the entire year, so I can't avoid it unless I want to spend some time in prison ha ha.

But paying $320 for a brand new JET JWP-13BTHH is an absolute steal, so its worth it. I am allowed to sell Vine items after 6 months and I only have to review as few as 60% of the items I get on Vine to remain in the program, so I'm not even breaking ToS or anything by selling it sealed in the box. But I am actually leaning more towards keeping the JET and selling the DeWalt now, so we'll see.
