Water based varnish. What one of my German associates uses for his holly. He says it doesn’t yellow much.

I used water based poly on our kitchen cabinets. Stained :scare3: first to get colr she wanted. Color is same after 20 yrs. I hate WBpoly but it works.

Mike, for the past 6 years or more, I've been using Minwax "Polycrylic" usually "Satin". It doesn't yellow, and is very durable....I used to swear I would never use a water-based finish, nor those cheapie foam brushes.......but Polycrylic has changed my opinion......for the most part it is my
"go to finish....
For whatever its worth

"Any other color than yellow spray paint works great." Fixed this for you.

And Mike ( @Mike1950 ) the best non-yellowing stuff I've found was either wipe-on poly or clear shellac.
