I’m on the hunt for some either highly flamed/ curly or Bees Wing Purpleheart for my custom bass guitar fretboard.
Something in the area of about 4” x30” x 3/8” to 3/4”

Good luck. That stuff is not impossible to find, but it's pretty rare. I spoke to an exotic wood store owner at a woodworking show once and he told me that his suppliers told him that approximately one tree out of 100 has any decent figure.

He had a pretty nice curly piece for sale and I stupidly passed on it, thinking I might come back at the end of the show and get it but when I did he said it had sold just after I spoke to him and that that had been not long after he had put it out on display.
