Looking for a piece about 3 x 12 x 1.5 at the minimum to set in epoxy then divide up and turn to make the chess pieces for my son.

One side will be no live edges (Using some of the walnut I got from Eric), while the other side will have live edges.

Thanks,

-Rik

Yeah, I believe so. (Still kinda new to this) Looking for something to give these pieces some character in the resin, versus just a flat surface in it. I'm also willing to trade. I have some Oak and Birch.

I have a live edge mango slab that might work for this. I need to dig it out of the shed and measure the thickness. It’s a pretty large piece of wood, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find.

This Mango slab is pretty big and dried for 5+ years. Measures 48” x 10 to 1” wide x 3 3/4” thick. I am happy to cut this up however. I will keep some of it for myself. It has some nice curly grain and a little black line in places. Also has dry rot on the large end. The whole thing is probably worth $125 to me, so if you want some portion let me know. I don’t want to sell it all though. The smaller end would be good for casting up against the live edge.

Beautiful piece, thank you for showing it. I am going to pass, I am looking for a bit more bumps and burls on the surface edge. I picked up a box of burls that Eric posted and will update.

Thanks,

-Rik

@BangleGuy Eric: I would be interested in the smaller end, and perhaps portions of the middle, of that mango piece. If you are inclined to part with a portion, I seek the curly grain + live edge specimens at least 9" long, if not 12" or more, for my art form featuring simply beautiful wood. If you have some other gems of the same description (live edge, etc.) that could travel nicely with mango, I would be especially interested. Thank you!

Thanks @ScoutDog ! i had an inquiry from @Bill12035 earlier in the thread and from @gman2431 so I need to go in order to keep things straight. Bill, what are your thoughts? Thanks!

Eric - If you're going to cut it up I'd be interested in a piece big enough to fit in a top loading MFRB which is 11 1/4" x 8 3/4" x 6". I don't care so much about the live edge.

Bill
