Fun for a Sawyer

Those farmers will more than likely pivot to almonds. So much of the central valley switch to almonds and they're a high water demand crop... and you know how California has all the water in the world.

Yep, taking out walnut orchards. Chinese flooding market

Hey Trev, @vegas urban lumber , are you going to get any of this?https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...peach-trees-destroyed-del-monte-b2973643.html
Looks like we could maybe get a bit of peach lumber or turning blanks here...
i would bet that the big smoker wood outfits have already secured it for themselves. the plum graft knuckles i got from the las vegas smoker wood/charcoal guy came from california in this very manner. it's always cut into 18" lengths after they bulldoze the whole mess. efficient routine always trumps whatever we might think would be neat to have. i could always haunt the local smoker wood yard and see what turns up. they get around $800 to $1200 per cord these days for smoker wood as the restaurants will pay that easily. and it would have the worst checking and drying splits you could imagine

Understand that money trumps pleasure most days and speed counts because time is money.
Yet in the big scheme, in the hands of the inherent boorish, exploitative nature of some men, the casualty is ethics, civility, and gentleeness. I'm all for making profit, Laissez-faire and all, but enough is enough! Personal responsibility is defunct! Bad experiences lately.

Yeah, I am in residential remodeling and somewhat understand what you are saying. I fight a constant battle to keep the level of quality, cleanliness and overall pride in workmanship at acceptable levels. To me acceptable levels is "every ounce you have, no less".
