I’ve been making board sets for a game called Cards & Marbles (also known as Pegs & Jokers) since early 2019. My wife & I were introduced to the game from a small group of folks at a church we were attending in Redding, CA. One gentleman from the group was making game boards, and I visited his shop to see first-hand his operation. He was using a drill press to drill out the holes for the marble path. Always looking for ways to improve efficiencies, I thought if I could design a template where I could use a router instead of a drill press it would ensure improved consistency on hole placement. One of my sons is a whiz with Autocad, so I gave him all the specs and he digitized the design for a template. I then inquired through WB if anyone could then make the template using their CNC machine. @CWS stepped up to the plate, and with my son’s Autocad files, was able to make a template that I have used ever since. I’ve probably made about 10 sets, from various wood species. They measure out about 4”x16”. The game boards pictured here are from a Juniper slab I picked up in Oregon many years ago. After completing the cutouts of the boards, including boring the holes, I sprayed the boards with 2 coats of shellac. Then my wife used acrylic paint to paint selected holes. After that I followed up with 4 coats of wipe on poly gloss. Pictured here is the completed set of (6) boards. At the current time, I have (3) additional sets in process in various stages. Chuck
