I'm getting ready for the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen's Fair and realized i'm coming up a bit short in my wood supply. I'm in need of green birch, preferably paper birch but any of the softer species will do. Minimum dimensions I'm looking for are 8" diameter and 4-5 feet long. If you have some and can sell me some or are willing to do a trade and live near the Warner NH area or know someone that does, please let me know as I need this in the next week or 2 at the latest.

Thanks!

@Jonkou can probably help out and lives in the area.

You aren’t on very often but I really respect your work. Cool stuff. Not many green wood workers on here. Sadly. I love the craft though.

I think our last interaction was about bowl adzes. A friend bought mine from northbay forge off me and I got a new one made from a guy in Slovenia.

1080 steel blade at 58 hrc. Optimised shape for bowls. Walnut handle and my own crude leather sheath. Everything but the sheath was made by Noric steel in Slovenia.

I’m not much of a leather worker. (-:

Jim wester’s adzes are somewhat better but not extremely so. They also cost about 300 bucks more.

I remember you like the karlsson right?

How’s life for you? Do you carve woods other than birch? I like the colourful fruit woods even though they are more work. They do knife finish better though.

Unfortunately those are too small. I'll be cutting the logs into sections and splitting those sections in half to be able to carve cups so 8"diameter is my minimum, but thanks for the offer!
