Hello! I’m fairly new to wood carving and read about this site on another forum while trying to source some soft woods.

I’m fairly handy and grew up learning to wood work with my dad who owned a small business and is an accomplished oil painter.

My recent interest is carving duck decoys which I started a few months ago, and I’ve been trying to find some basswood, white pine, tupelo and other soft woods ideal for this style of carving. I’ve been lucky to get some recently milled white pine but it still needs a couple years to dry out.

Anyways, I started carving some miniature ducks to start out and I’ve now moved on to full size (pictures attached).

Looking forward to meeting some folks and hopefully making a few connections to fuel my hobby!

WELCOME! From Michigan. :welcome2:
Awesome work. And I used to have a triumph also.
