Thought I would show off some of my son skill. His ability to see things in wood and then bring them to life blows my mind.
The skull, spike and hand holding the skull is from pecan from homestead. The base stand is black walnut from there as well.

Incredible!!! I'm a carver, an artist, and a craftsman: I cannot come close to that.
If he ever wants to offer lessons, he would have would-be learners lined up for days to glean pointers.

Actually no one asked, is it power carved (micro motor, flex-shaft machine etc) or is it carved with traditional edge tools? Some of those details would be very hard to achieve with traditional tools.

I would say 85 percent traditional edge tools. The based is where here he started with traditional and went to a dremel. The skull, spike, lower jaw and hand were all done with traditional carving knives.
