Hi Everyone,
I'm Mr.GfCs. I'm a Disabled American VET, living in Lima Peru.
I've only used a wood lathe 2 times in my life. Wood-shop in Jr. High, and in my late 20’s to make a walking-spinning wheel, for my first wife.
I’ve been trying to find something I can do to keep me busy down here and a friend of mine had an old pre 50’s Craftsmen tube lathe that he loaned me and I found that even with my injury, I can turn wood.
The difference between what is available now (in tools) and what was available when I was in High School is astonishing. I started watching videos on turning back in January and was amazed at how much the craft has evolved.
So, I’ve saved up and have purchased:
· A jet 1221
· The Nova G3 with the small Chuck Set
· Hurricane 16 piece gouge set
· And the MT2 Cleaner
Now, I’m just waiting for it all to get here. I’m hoping that it’ll get shipped out today, Oct. 17th, 16 to Miami, so the reshipping company can get it to me ASAP.
I’ve already imported the Wolverine Sharpening system and I’m saving to get CBN wheels for my grinder.
I’m also saving to get:
· Robert Sorby Complete Thread Cutting Set
· Stone Mountains’ 31 Piece Forstner Bit Set and the extension for them.
I figure that these tools would give me a fairly decent set to start with. My goal is to start making toys to give to the poor kids down here where I live.
