How do I pay a member

You and the seller would work out those details in a Conversation (used to be referred to as a Private Message, or PM, and is still sometimes referred to as a PM) as WoodBarter does not act as a broker for the sales, handling neither the money nor the wood. (I can't imagine how much of a nightmare that would be if WB had to serve as the broker for the sales here!) Most everyone uses PayPal, which is pretty easy to use to send and receive money. If you don't have a PayPal account, it seems that many here are also more than willing to accept a money order, or sometimes even a personal check. However, a PayPal account is easy to obtain and use - I am glad to finally have signed up for one. The seller would send you the details of how to pay them in a Conversation, whether it's the e-mail address you can send the funds to with PayPal or the physical address to mail a money order or check to.

Hope I explained that well enough - I'm sure there are others who could explain it better or simpler or with better details than me.

Top notch group of people here who are easy to work/buy/sell/trade/converse/etc with.

Matt said it very well. Ebay, etsy, etc are brokers where they handle the money take a cut and give the rest to the seller. You pay the seller directly here. If you have purchased something you will not find a "pay here" button on the wood barter site. You will need to do as matt said and make arrangements with the seller.
+1 on matts comments about the top notch group here. Any of the sellers I am familiar with will be more than accommodating in helping you get up to speed with payments. I have a credit card processor for my business (treecycle hardwoods llc) that I use to process payments for those who want that option. I have accepted checks, money orders, credit card payments, and paypal. The only one I have not used that is main stream is google wallet to date I have not had a request for it but wouldn't hesitate to use it if it became the norm on WB.

My wife has a PP account through EBay that she has only used on that site. Is it possible to use that same PP account or is it married into eBay ? If you can use, what information would I need to provide a buyer/seller?

Mel, pay pal will work perfect.

You just provide the Paypal address for the buyer to send you money, or conversely, enter their Paypal address if you're sending them money.

PayPal can be used anywhere that accepts it . You can even use it at the registers at Home Depot - But don't tell your wife That it was me that taught you that. :sarcastic: Anyone who has a Pay Pal account can send or receive money through it. I can send you money because we both have pay pall accounts. Of douse the money would go to your wife...

Doesn't our money always go to our wives eventually? While I have your attention, I was approached by a local pen turner about putting together a batch of segmented blanks for him and I'm going to test the waters here. How well do you think segmented pepper mill blanks and bowl blanks might be received here? I've only seen one segmented pen post and they were long ways. Mine will be more diagonal.

I think they would go over well. Now is the time when all of us are scrambling to get Christmas orders out so within the next hour would probably be best...
Seriously, post a pic of a finished item along with the blank and see what happens. Wood selection, design and quality will determine how well you do. Nothing ventured - nothing gained!
