I have been commissioned to make an urn for a friends dog. They wanted something that looks/reminds them of her and Mesquite is really close. They don't have a big budget so I am likely doing this one at cost. (Can't help it when it comes to the pets)
I would like to find an 8x8x12" piece of Mesquite. Preferably on the drier side, although I have never had an issue with Mesquite moving. I know this is a pretty big chunk, but I remember a Doctor on this site that hoards this 'Ugly' wood. Just can't remember his name!

I can get that size for you. You know it's oversized for USPS, so It will have to go UPS or Fedex, or any other shipping company you choose. You get the cost of a box 1" larger than your blank, and we can go from there. To verify, that's 8" two sides, and 12 " long? Is that what you want. If the Doc comes through and I hope he does, that's better cuz he's more organized and will probably get it to you quicker than me. I'm going to be gone until next Wednesday. Tag me if the Doc can't help......... Jerry (in Tucson)

Yes, 8" square and 12" long (could probably go with 10" if needed). Money is a big factor here since they are on a budget. Any ballpark figure would be beneficial.

Have honey mesquite if your interested.

Noble project.
Sorry- not been watching the ‘net.
I can cut that size - or bigger, no problem.
Let me know if you are interested. Wood is nominal, shipping — whatever it is for USPS or Ups— figure - buck a pound.

Sorry I went radio silent there. Spoke with client again and there budget is way to low to do an urn. Doing a plaque instead. I really appreciate the response though, wish it would have worked out.

Do you have a chunk that will fit a LFRB? How much would that be?
