I have this as a fire place mantel. It came out of an old store that was gutted and reno’d. I am guessing 100 plus years old. It was 14ft long or so before I cut it down. End grain looks like it to me, but I am not 100%. This is the natural color. IMG_0227.jpeg IMG_0226.jpeg

I don't think so. The coloring and patina look like Hemlock. Can you post a picture of the top to show some flatsawn grain and a picture of the tear-off above the nail in the end? Was it heavy? Seen old growth oak with similar looks too. Oak and hemlock have distinct smells when cutting, guess we could argue the same for pines as well.

Looks soft but not heart pine color. Heart pine should be dark with a fairly hard,resin filled grain pattern. That resin is what makes heart pine water resistant. The grain is usually very tight which tends to a high wear resistance.
If you have any of that beam left, I would about bet it would have a decent tap tone.

Doesn't look like any Georgia (or Carolina) heart pine I've seen.
