My father brought me an interesting crescent shaped piece of elm. Its about 8" tall at its highest point. Any ideas of what I could do with it or how I could potentialy incorporate it into a project?
That is an interesting piece of wood. Those with an artistic eye are always able to be creative with such a piece and come up with something really amazing.
Picture 1, a boot jack for 2 sizes. The number 3 or letter E. Picture 2, looks like a cresent moon on the wall. A parrot head....a prop in taxadermy, a rock out-crop in a model train display, etc.
I'd make a picture frame. Cut two new moldings for a picture frame, roughly 20" by 8", and meld them onto this boomerang shaped piece. Use bondo or putty to merge the new sections with the bark-like natural piece. There's a guy out here who makes frames this way and they're really cool looking. He combs the beach for drift wood that has a 90 degree shape to it.
