Not to me. That figure and color makes me think . Makore -JUST a WAG. Is it oily?

Not oily. I wet it with water for the picture. It is heavy.

What is the going rate?
Possibly gauging interest.
The going rate depends on the wood species. For example, if this were bois de rose you could expect three figure numbers. If it were plain maple then two figures.
This one has figure, good colour, seems free of cracks and has some sapwood for contrast. I will not say what I would pay for it because of the gauging interest rule and the fact that I wouldn’t buy it anyway because of the shipping.
Depends on the species.
