I also made a knife block to go with the knives. It's made from a plank of cherry - nothing so exotic this time! The mosaic pin isn't quite central and there are a couple of nicks in the slots from the table saw, but it's only going to get stabbed anyway. It's the first woodworking object I've made completely from scratch without following a method or particular design.

Amazing. You should post that in finished projects.

Where did you get yours? I have not found a supplier of the rarer aussie species in europe.
I got it from Exotic Hardwoods UK - https://exotichardwoodsukltd.com. They still have quite a lot in stock, all small logs or half logs.
What size pieces do you work with normally? There are a couple of other UK suppliers that have a range of Aussie pen blanks or knife scales.

I mean raspberry jam wood has to be made into something culinary right?? I wonder if you can get spreading knife blanks?
If you want some and you can't find any, let me know, I can send you some if you give me an idea of what you want.

I can use anything. I’m a carver mainly as that is the thing I still have enough time for. For extremely hard Aussie species I would likely use them for knife handles for my knives and such. I just like to have the source. Those other suppliers would be nice.

Try feelgoodwood on eBay for Aussie knife blanks. I've had a few woods from them.
There's also an Etsy shop in Australia called Zeds collections. I haven't bought from them but he's been helpful
